hey guys

my problem is that i have 2 Rb25det motors but both are in need of a rebuild (both blown ring 6 piston).

The 25 block is still in good nick and can be used again i dont just want to replace rings and keep going because i want the car to be reliable and as there is 150 000kms on each engine i figure rather take the time now and rebuild one and drop it in fresh but there lies my problem either way i will be doing an engine rebuild so i ask im asking weather to rebuild a 25 which we all know to be reliable with the oil issues sorted or to spend the little extra time and money and have the monser torque. there is no issue in me building either one its just for the power i want and the rpm and abuse the engine will get will the 30 hold or should i go the tried and proven 25. has any one drifted a 25/0 combo how do you go with piston temps with no oil squiters. basically can some one confirm that a rb30det will be fine with the rpm and temp issues associated with drift or should i just got 25. im looking for about 450rwhp and good response and plenty of torque.

if any one can help that would be awsome

cheers

There is a 25/30 or 26/30 that did a full season in DA or whatever the series is if memory serves me correct.

Was making around 330-350rwkw. Was pulled down after the season, reports were A1 no drama's at all.

But then, there was a LOT of prep that went into the bottom end, the RB30 crank was heavily lightened etc etc. Was a work of art.

This was no cheap ass 3ltr bottom end, was worth a nice sum

easto ran a stock 30 bottom end with a 25 head @ 270 rwkw for like 16 months competing in DA

iirc

yeah thats right the black pearl aka r31 ran one he said it was stock but he must of had something in there to help. i hear of people getting a couple year out of one on the street and giving them some abuse but there not constantly on the limiter thats where i think the rb30 is going to fall to bits but i really want to run one for the huge amount of torque.

with multiple melt downs, but i think they found the culprit.

Pretty sure Trent Wytes 3litre is the only one to be proven reliable in competitive drift events.

Borneo's ceffy has been going for years with a big dirty thirty running a t04z and 400ish rwkw

mercurys is also dry sump. though i think it blew alot of turbos. this one dude just turboed a na rb30. makes plenty of torque and abut 3 to 400hp. the beauty of it is if you blow the motor go to the wreckers and get another for f**k all.
