I,ve had my M35 for a week now and have come to a few conclusions. Firstly its not as sporty as my rs4, tends to wallow in the corners, secondly that delay on kickdown is a pain in the bum and thirdly its a really nice car to drive and is giving reasonable fuel mileage, although the performance is a little down on one I drove previously so hope that will improve with more use. Still can,t figure that bloody screen out and if anybody has a factory reversing camera would appreciate the sequence of how to get it to work or perhaps mine is rooted.

we may have the language conversion for the screen ready in a few weeks.

Reverse Camers: As Iamhe77 said. Should work automatically. (that is unless it is not factory like mine and needs the override to be turned on to work)

What model do you have? I put the stiffer swaybars on my ARX and it made a significant difference to reduce the wallow of the larger car. (the Bilsteins came later and they really helped)

Where are you in Aust?

I live on the Gold Coast Andy so will be talking to Chris in Brisbane in the next couple of weeks as I still have a few things to sort out electrically. The car came with Nismo shocks and springs so maybe the stiffer sway bars could be the go, where are they obtained from and what sort of money. The car is a 250t RS and i,ve already done a scoop for the induction in front of the air cleaner, don,t know if it improves performance but sounds good, even the trouble and strife likes the induction noise.

Looks like the reverse camera needs Chris,s attention so will have to wait on that one.

I go the sway bars from "sydneyKid". You can send him a PM, he is on the SAU site. They are about $440 for front and rear or there abouts.

You just have the exhaust, highflow turbo, intercooler, dump pipe, and retune to go. LOL

I saw Chris today in Sydney and I am sure he will be able to sort it out for you.

Cheers

Andy

Afraid the rest of car will be as standard as all my money goes on my Anglia race car and the bride says either race car or fast road car, not both.

RS with a screen?

or is it a RX?

btw your first impressions are almost identical to mine (i had a s2 RS4 (modified) before). I still struggle sometimes with the slow kick-down. Most of the time it is bearable though. I think over time you get used to the drive-by-wire and the way the gearbox works and you adjust to suit...

The C34's were more of a sports wagon, but the M35 is more of a luxury wagon. It is faster than the C34 - thanks to over 70N-m more torque than the s2. I also found the standard suspension to be softer, but much improved over the C34 stock suspension. The ride is less harsh on bumpy surfaces.

overall I think the M35 is a much nicer car to drive.

Screen/Navi/camera was an option for both the RS and RX.

My RS came with all of them... and black leather which I guess was also an option.

Oh, and I agree with the adjusting to the fly by wire and the gearbox... still is annoying though

I,m coming to like the m35 more and more and yes its a 250rst. I do a lot of h/way work so am starting to anticipate when I need to kick down, bit like turbo lag need to be in front of the game. Haven,t played with tipotronic much as still half a sleep in morning and to much traffic in afternoon in case I stuff it up.

I've found the issues with the laggy auto are just as bad when using the tiptronic, hence I rarely use it. Its useful for locking the auto in 5th when driving on the highway though (when you do this it reduces the likelihood of the torque converter unlocking all the time - at 100km/h every time you hit boost the revs shoot up to 2700rpm or so instead of sitting on 2000rpm. keep it in 5th and the revs stay at 2000, saving your fuel).

If the auto lag really annoys you, you can get a shift kit fitted for around $700 or so. Problem solvered. :)

id like to see an aftermarket ECU before 'fixing' the throttle lag. i think its designed to come on smoothly for passenger comfort and saving driveline wear/problems with the sudden surge of torque. because they do have a LOT

anyway, after a shift kit i think the ecu that controls the auto box needs a remap too

    • It can't be some stupidly proprietary video signal coming out of it that only Nissan's can understand. Surely you can just find some generic camera to stuff in there and use hot melt glue/blu-tac/gaffer tape to hold it in place if need be?
    • Update: Tunehouse looked into the problem and identified a wiring issue between the camera unit and the connector. They managed to get it working , but did warn me at some point it will stop working again. From their perspective it is unserviceable and will need replacement. They did some research and found that the new replacement camera would be Approx $1400 supply only (their fitting cost would be $190) . They did provide the part number (28442-JL05B) and a quick google of the part number shows that these are rather expensive brand new (seemingly no longer in manufacture) for the places that still have them in stock, with the used option potentially presenting  the same issue down the track at some unknown point. They are happy for me to supply the part so that they can fit it. Decisions, decisions... I can definitely recommend Tunehouse (thankyou Vee37!). Cost for the diagnosis was as quoted  ($190) , car was ready on time and communication was top notch. Their workshop is super clean and modern, and there was plenty of car candy parked out the front on the day I went.   Would definitely go back.
    • to fix the voltage drop issue I swapped out the old 150amp alternator which turns out is a brand known for having issues and replaced it with the black 180amp alternator beside it
    • For anyone interested, the Way Back Machine has that Japanese website archived with pictures, etc: https://web.archive.org/web/20051023225805fw_/http://www.a31cefiro.com/air_con.htm "Simply swapping the wiring of the harness will not allow it to function properly. For the outdoor air sensor and sunlight sensor, disconnect the wiring connected to CN1-11 of the air conditioning harness from the harness and connect the sensor side wiring to earth. For the indoor air sensor, disconnect the wiring connected to CN2-3 of the air conditioning harness from the harness and connect the sensor side wiring to earth. The connector PIN numbers listed here are the genuine A31 PIN numbers. To avoid incorrect wiring, check with a tester before wiring. Also, disconnect the wiring in a location close to the sensor. The disconnected harness side wiring will not be used, so be sure to insulate it." Wish someone sold a conversion harness to just plug-and-play a Kouki 180sx digital climate control into C33/A31. I'm decent with wiring but feeling kinda lazy about taking this on. Edit: Did some more digging and found a helpful Minkara blog post about the conversion as well: https://minkara.carview.co.jp/userid/1831116/car/1360568/2284209/note.aspx "After installation is complete or the battery is replaced, you need to go into self-diagnosis mode and set the internal air recirculation. The way to do it is to "hold OFF with the key on for more than 5 seconds, set the number to 5, then press 卍→C." ↑↑↑It probably won't make sense unless you actually try it (・∀・)." Lol wtf
