Get rid of it...a POD makes a better 'whoosh' sound...so you can impress those lady bois.

I agree a Blitz or K&N Pod Filter are good but mind you I have a Apexi panel filter and My car still goes great.

+1 for trendy brand names, making your R33 GTST different from the rest...

Keep the snorkel and top half of the air box, and get a pod filter, then you get a dardy whoosh sound AND cold air....then you get all the ladies, boys and 'ladie bois'...but you'll be flying by too fast to stop and pick them up.

Don't really see the point in the pod if you get rid of cold air. Close to no performance difference between sucking in lots of hot air, or less amounts of cold air, it doesnt even look cool.

Lol Joe whats with you and "lady bois"?

Not me it's perthute...

...whatever floats his boat...I'm a 'live & let live' kinda guy.

Hanson at xspeed reckons a cold air box around a POD is useless on the road where tons of cold air is available due to the car moving fwd.

Why bother putting on a pod just to make a box that you already had with the panel filter?

If you do a search you will find there is stuff all if any difference except,

1) Panal filters are LEGAL!!! (and yes i know that if a pod is secured properly it is too, but tell officer Plod that when he is looking under ur bonnet.. lol)

2) Stock Look and still make the same power.

It comes down to what you like but if you realy want something different the stock you would be better of putting in

a ARC air box...

But everyone to there own that is what makes us all different..

p.s. You can still here the wastegate just as well with a panel filter fitted especially with a Twin Dump pipe fitted...

(not that i need to impress the ladies when the wife is next to me lol)

yes wanted to stick with the factory airbox due to the cold air intake and boyz in blue ;)

picking up the car today (just brought it) :P

will be looking into coilovers and clutch to suit drift and see how the factory diff goes :?

Get a air diversion plate put in... pushes the air up and into the engine bay/pod filter....

that + pod should be more than ok... for street use.

if your going to get a cold air induction go CF.. =)

I have some custom 33 airboxs that allow you to use pod and keep the boys in blue happy

fixed

what's so confusing about that?

best way about it.

you hide the filter, you get cold air from outside the engine bay, and if you protect it, water and shit won't f**k it up and such.

honestly, just get a pod, and direct cold air up into the filter. isn't that what your fully sick veilside aero kits are for?

FYI, these are lady boys:

    • What HVAC actuator is under the steering wheel? Do you mean on the RHS of the centre console, immediately to the left of your shin? If so, then yes, it is probably that one, because that is the mode door actuator, and from what I know, it's still a pain in the arse to replace. I don't know about whole dash out, but you certainly have to rip into the centre console section. I don't know if it's covered in the workshop manual, as I haven't spent much time looking at those parts of it. (and by "the workshop manual, I mean the R32 GTR one, which is the most comprehensive one we have, and it should be similar enough between that and later cars to serve as a guide).

    • No I got mine from a friend that had fabricated one … but I had to fit it to my setup which was a hks turbo setup. His was a Garrett -7. So one of my turbos was not a flange for one side … then I had a leak in the welds I had to find a weld shut … in the end the setup was decent priced but I spent a lot to get it fitted. A couple companies I checked would make it but you’re talking 7-9k aud with titanium. No joke mine was 6-7k even second hand after I had to fit it in Hong Kong … labour is expensive here.
    • I'd just like to restate that I don't think anyone here is actually hating I recently sold a car part to a guy who was building a forged auto R34, with MV stall and aiming at ~450kw. I told him that I'm him, from the future and to stop after it explodes once. I told him I knew he won't listen the first time, and that's fine. But if my predictions do come true - Change direction faster than I did. I also said it's probably no coincidence that the dyno plot of a reliable turbo engine starts to look a lot like a N/A motor. :p
