there is one small downside I can see to this style of importing. if you have an agreement with them that says "I will pay $52,000 for a 2000 model R34 GTR in blue with less than 100,000kms, landed, complied and ready for rego" then there is a dis-incentive for them to buy the most expensive car. the cheaper the car they buy the more money they make. which is not good for you. I think you are better off just paying an importer a fixed rate for their service and then working out you maximum bid price on a car, then have them search auctions for the best car they can win at your bid price.

:)

Hey bud,

I'm not sure of your financial situation but, can i just say, push the bill for a great example, not an ordinary one, really, that's the whole reason your looking overseas and willing to wait in excess of 3 months to call her yours.

Not saying that one was no good, but go for one that's really worth the wait, whether it be a really stock and clean grade 5 or one with some really nice Nismo touches, look for something you'd be hard pressed to find in Japan let alone Australia. Only then is the trouble of importing really worth it

We all only want the best for you pal so really go for it because we're all with you haha

Danny

oooo, how much did it go for??

thought we were talking about this one Eugene over at Global

Hi all,

Quick update. Just got off the phone to Garry.

A car is going through auction tomorrow - its a 2000 model R34 GTR, bayside blue and grade 4.5B.

After looking at the auction sheet, I have found that the only problem is - its non vspec!

Have told Garry I'm happy to let this one slip and wait for a vspec to pop up.

Perfect grade, perfect colour - but unfortunately not the perfect spec! I have attached auction info and pics to this post.

I would also prefer one with a standard front bumper and standard rims :D

Will let you all know of updates as they are available.

Cheers!

What's wrong with that front bumper? :action-smiley-069: I had the exact same bumper on the GTR I won at auction while importing.. genuine Nismo :D looks mean!

On second thoughts, glad there's one less similar looking one coming in  lol

can't help good taste can ya Kristian?

Haha true although I'd like my LM-GT4s in that width please, and the fake has more horsepower than me too...

do we know what the 'fake Chef' gtr would be landed+compiled?

Somewhere in the high $60Ks

if the budget is a little tight it's proabably wiser to try and buy one here. only really worth importing I reckon right now to find that special 1 owner low km vspec if that's what you want, but sadly you'll have to pay for it. the only cheap ones you are going to find are going to be non-vspec (seem to be important to you), have high kms, and most likely more than 1 owner (more like 4 or more) and mostly 1999 or 2000 models.

for a car like that you could pick one up here dirt cheap as there are always some desperate sellers out there. the fact is even the newest R34 GTR is 8 years old and early ones now 10 years old. they don't appeal to that many older buyers, and younger buyers can't drive them due to p plate restrictions. so the have a bit lower demand than in the past, and due to the whole used car glut you have a good chance of a bargain here.

the main reason to import one atm is to get a special one, but if the budget isn't there then it's just not going to happen unless you are will to bid on and get beaten time after time until eventually you get lucky and the car dealers take a nap as a nice one comes up and you win it.

Will keep searching locally, however there is nothing i have seen that has interested me over the past few months. We'll have to see whether top secret find one first or if one locally pops up first! :P

Local ones have either been the wrong colour, spec or just absolutely thrashed. I just want a standard vspec with average k's in bayside blue. If i wasnt worried about the colour - i've seen numerous pop up in auction or locally that have tickled my fancy - but i know i'll regret it if i get one! I'm also fascinated with the whole import thing, seems to add a more personalised touch to the car and seems like it will be a pretty interesting experience so i want to give it a try. :(

I dont really want to pay that little bit more for one with 20 or 30k on the clock because i'd just be adding to it anyway. This car will most likely be driven as a daily, not just kept in a garage and admired like my R33 was. I am aiming for either a 1999 or 2000 model, and my budget (although it will remain private :( - is definately more than fair for the car that i desire - if anyone really needs specifics, just PM me).

Lets see what happens, atleast theres no rush - i have all the time in the world to wait for the right one to pop up!

well fair enough. the 'fun' of the experience is one reason to import I guess. and wanting a specific colour/spec/year can be another good reason too. so I guess you have it fairly well figured out. best of luck finding the car you want.

KR4 GTR ...why not this one?

price seems great & it looks very well looked after.

Hey mate,

Yeah - i jumped on that one as soon as it was listed a few months ago - http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Ni...ec-t288722.html

Cheers anyway for the tip!

Thanks beer baron! :D

I would definitely look at that one linked. for $48K it's a lot of GTR. it's the colour you want, spec you want, kms you want and importing from Adelaide is easier than japan! was it listed a few months ago? the ad looks to me like it was only put up last week?
