Hey guys

Im in the middle of building my drifter and i cannot decide what turbo to use. I havent drifted alot so im not after anything huge basically something that is foregiving so if i stuff up and it drops revs and gets traction i can just plant it and be able to get the back out again so i need a turbo that will boost early really early and hold 12-14max through out the rev range. I have checked out what most of you guys are running and checked your dyno resaults so i have a rough idea of what to run but im just not posotive. The major thing is i dont have a huge amount of cash so over $1000 is out of the question. I havent ruled out twins either. the motor they are going on is an rb30e with a s2 rb25det head the motor has had a rebuild but still runs factory pistons and rods std cams etc Im chasing 400hp atw so what do you guys think i should run heres a few idea iv been throwing around.

gt3076

gt30

2x rb20 turbo

2x gtr turbos

2x n1 gtr turbos

to4e

what do you think and are any of these to small to acheive what im after and im even thinking the gt3076 will boost a bit too late for what im after but not sure help would be awsome.

cheers

They are mutually exclusive dude, twins are quite expensive and unless you're keen on the idea of bolting on el chepo china/ebay twins, it isn't going to happen for under 1k.

If you want 400rwhp you are going to have to up the budget to $1700 for the turbo at least, then comes dump pipe, intake piping etc etc.

twin turbos wont work, it'll cost you more than a single as you have to make adapter plates, custom EVERYTHING (lines, piping, exhaust) etc etc etc.

Save up for a 3076 and be done with it.

Otherwise revisit your aims because you cannot do it with $1000

I came across a rebuilt xr6 turbo on eBay today think the exhaust was1.06 a/r and intake was about.56. Can anyone make a guess as to how these would go on an rb30. I was thinking maybe the exhaust housing may to a

little too big for response but I could be wrong has anyone experimented with gt35/40s at all?

Didn't actually find anything with a whole deal of information on it. Hence why I asked thought it maybe a cheapish option although could well be a touch too laggy. I don't see why it wouldn't support 300rwkw though

The xr6 turbo will support 400rwhp without any problems - it does need some wg mods to hold boost though. I had one on a 26 and it was a great deal laggier than the .82 gt35 I have now. Have a look on the vl turbo forums, thats where my old xr6 turbo sold too.

If you're budget limited look into bw stuff... I priced a gt35 equivalent at 1300 landed - I'm sure they could be had cheaper of ebay etc and by all accounts they match or out perform the garrett gear (and you save on water lines :D )

Have a look at the holset hx35. its what I have on mine and it makes 320rwkw but at more boost than you want to run. i am running 19psi. I paid $150 for mine and then rebuilt it. you can get good ones for $300. I have an entire build thread in the forced induction thread. read it and be the judge :(

T67 10cm,

A greddy one will be mega expensive but these guys are making copy versions and they are of a good quality, there are a few threads on the US EVO forums about them and people are having a lot of success, considering they are under 1/2 the price of the original you can go wrong.
