hey guys

i've got a garrett T3/T4 A/R .60 turbo on my rb25

and im just wondering if its laggier than what its meant to be.

STARTS coming on boost at 4500 rpm, to me this seems much laggier than it should be

everything else is more or less stock, apart from 3" exhaust, pod, boost controller etc.

thanks guys

Chester

.6 exhaust housing or front cover? why would u put an after market turbo on with a stock ecu, unless ofcourse you want to rebuild your motor in a few months time once u blow it up.

get an after market computer and get it tuned, might help it, but all depends on the size of the exh housing aswell...

.60 front cover, not sure of rear housing

i put it on because it was the turbo that came on the rb25 that i bought.

Honestly get yourself a stock turbo and put it back on. Power difference probably wont be that much different consdering everything else is stock and holding it back. You'll get good response and better midrange, 4500rpm is crap. Then save up for a proper decent turbo.

That's what i would do anyway.

you will need an aftermarket ecu or even just an safc to start unlocking the power and helping to reduce the lag. Then you will find out you might also need a fuel pump, injectors and afm as your stock ones are maxing out

However im guessing the T3/T4 turbo is oldskool and is only plain bearing? (possible only oil cooled) therefore it will be laggy they some somethign newer which is ball bearing

    • Only reason I started replacing hoses was I went for a short drive to the shop the other day and finished shopping and started the car and started to drive off and could see a big trail of fuel in the rear view mirror. Parked up and found the bottom hose to the fuel filter had busted. Lucky I was near a car part store and was able to get a replacement hose and back on the road. But got me thinking I had owned that car for around 20 years and was all original fuel hoses so probably time to replace all of the fuel hoses. Was pretty lucky it went where it did.

    • Are you going to delete the stock damper or are you just replacing the fuel lines and keeping the stock damper?  There are also options for sexy ones if the stock one is too ugly for you lol -  https://www.radiumauto.com/Fuel-Pulse-Damper-Inline-Kits-P751.aspx or https://www.radiumauto.com/Fuel-Pulse-Damper-Direct-Mount-Kits-P759.aspx So sexy.
    • I think you guys are right. The only reason I thought it was a restrictor was I had seen the same yellow band on the r32 boost restrictor. Will just replace with a standard fuel hose. Thank you for your speedy replies. I'm sure I'll have many other silly questions.
