hey all

just bought my new r33 gts-t series one

im having a lil flashing icon which turns out to be the 'check oil' icon when im boosting sometimes

maybe its the way im driving it but it sometimes turn on and sometimes doesnt.

ive checked the engine oil level with that lil metal dipper and it seems to have recent healthy looking engine oil

anyone know why this is?

cheers

Look at the level when cold (ie. wait at least 10 minutes after shutting engine off). Sure it's not an oil pressure warning? because if it is you definitely do not want to ignore that

edit: If it is indeed oil pressure, I'd hate to say, but you may haee brought yourself a lemon.

hey

so how do i no if its the oil pressure or not?

yeh i have a apexi powerfc with the controller, dun really know how to use it

car has had new engine put in not a year ago.

shouldnt be knocking or anything like that..?

its that orangey icon at the top right of the dash.

any one know?

so its the check engine light?

hoping its not set to high knock levels or you could be changing the engine yet again.

would recommend you get it to a tuner pretty quickly for diagnosis and possibly re tune.

yeh i just looked at it

its the 'check engine' icon flashes SOMETIMES

wen im boosting.

car has highflowed turbo, turboback exhaust, powerfc etc

it was tuned before but last owner put a fmic on and it hasnt been tuned yet.

he recommended that i get it tuned aswell.

so im better off if i take it to a shop and dont drive it to its edge just yet?

you can check your knock levels on the hand controller display, go to the correct page and it will give you a read out with peak hold, but if your light is coming on then its +60 or thereabouts.

standard AFM? doesnt the "check engine" light come on when the afm gets maxed out aswell?

How quick is it flashing. I cant remember which way it is, but one is knock, and other is AFM from what ive read up.

this sounds similar to what my car used to do before....the tune wasn't the best and it knocked every time around the 40-70 mark....got it retuned and now barely seeing any knock.....so as others have recommended take it to a decent tuner and get your power fc retuned.....and save yourself have to slap in another motor

that light is ur piston saying hi, if you ignore the light long enough ur piston might actualy decide to exit the block and say hi in person.

definately dont drive the thing hard if its knocking, take it for a proper tune :(

hi,

covered to death in the powerfc faq (in my signature) read it and check if its the AFM, Injetors or knock causing the engine check light to come on

to clarify, the engine check light is orange, this is a warning sequence light, as the colour is orange

the oil pressure light, is red, and is a critical sequence, as the colour is red

the orange engine check light is used (with the powerfc) to identify maxing sensors, broken sensors and excessive detonation

isolate the cause for the orange light flashing by using advice in here and the FAQ

have the hand controler? you can adjust it in there what knock level it comes on. if its set to 50 or somethi ng you need to have a look at the tune.

you cant adjust the threshold with the hand controller, you need datalogit to do that. standard setting in the pfc is anymore than 60 knock flashes the engine light

use the temp adjust to take a couple degrees of timing out until you get it tuned

so knocking is a normal thing?

im pretty sure its standard AFM

the powerfc i have no idea how to use, but the check engine light flashes a lil bit

and it doesnt so much knock on the hand controller.

how do i check wat level its set to? also ive read that FAQ briefly but dun really know wat im after

it siad something about hitting the limiter and the engine is knocking slightly?

since the ECU has been changed, would i focus on the handcontroller 's readings or the dashes??

my r32 didnt used to do this? but that was stock :P

not really sure wat to do atm lol

that tune is coming tho

    • Hi all. So one of my major issues at the moment is my rear turbo leaking oil on the exhaust (and the general area). I presumed it was the rock hard super old drain hose, which it was not. So now I am in the midst of removing the rear turbo to get access to the banjo bolt that goes into the turbo oil feed. As one of the previous owners accidentally? tore off the OEM oil feed hardline that reaches behind the turbo, they ran braided lines directly to the turbo, presumably PTFE. Now, regardless if the line has rubber or teflon inside, is it just generally a bad idea to do this? I imagine these lines get quite hot being between the engine, turbo core and exhaust manifold. I suppose it's not too far fetched to think the line may even have melted. I'd love to hear your opinions on this as as the replacement OEM hardline piece is 130 per unit. And cutting open the currently mounted line to see inside will mean I just have to get a replacement either way. So far I am hoping maybe the bolt just loosened or (god forbid) they forgot one of the crush washers.
    • If it's a factory 20de manual probably has the 6 bolt flywheel in which case the det clutches won't work as they're 9 bolt.
    • All RB push clutches are interchangeable. AFAIK, the 4cyl ones are not. Different flywheels. The RB small box is not identical to the 4cyl boxes. Just very similar.
    • Hi. I need a new clutch for my gearbox. It is a factory smallbox behind RB20DE NEO. What options do i have? If iam not mistaken the gearbox should be the same as in R32 GTST and Nissan S14/S15? I found some Xtreme Clutch Stage 1 for S14/S14 (i dont know if you know the brand) (UK) OR...is the clutch same as in the bigbox from RB25DET?   Thank you!
