Hello all.

So, I've just had my brakepads changed and rotors replaced. The guys that did it work next door to me and will look at it for me on Monday, but seeing as I need my car over the weekend I wonder if anyone would have any idea what is making this knocking noise. Now I know 1 of my rear coilovers has a leak and is knocking but this is a totally different sound and a seperate issue (i think).

When I accelerate I would not hear this knocking but as my foot is off the accelerator I hear a series of knocking noises kind of like how if you would drop a snooker ball onto a table. It seems to be knocking as the wheel spins (from the sounds of it). Any idea what it may be?

The higher the speed I'm going at the louder the knocking is. Reason I ask is simple as I need to use my car over the weekend. Will definately take it back on monday to have it looked at but if it is something simple I may take a crack at it tomorrow morning.

Thanks in advance for any advice that is given.

- Vic

Possibly your brake calipers hitting your rims? If you replaced your rotors and pads then it would have pushed the calipers further out by a tiny bit, maybe they are now hitting your wheels?

Our skyline brakes don't work like that, the Stagea however, does work like that (it's a sliding caliper set up with pistons only on one side I believe).

My guess is something isn't done up properly

Alright, after a whole day of running around doing errands and tryign to figure out the problem with my car, I've just realized that 1 of the spacers was not bolted back properly (loose) (Thanks R31 POWER)

Now just need to find my damn allen key for my wheel nuts to get it off and tighten it all up.

Cheers for the help guys.

    • Ducan , yeah sure mate , the unit is https://www.carlinkit.com/ambient TBox Ambient -  plugs straight into the USB C and it runs as a android  unit and you can link your phone to it via Bluetooth , but it only allows for one phone at a time. you can download and apk files you want and load it on there , I downloaded a basic maps apk (OsmAnd+ — Maps & GPS Offline) so I can run navigation without data usage , its not as good at google or wazes but it works fine for what I need. I can put up screen shots if you like. Cheers Pac

    • Currently advertised with some A4 flyers up at work for $30k ono Will detail it next week, and get some good picks for carsales, then put the cover back on and put it back on the tender until someone comes to look at it No real hurry to sell, in saying this I would like it gone with in 6 months as I am retiring in May 25 and lose the ability to store the car undercover in a secured site, plus as we are moving out of Sydney the potential buyers market will be more limited https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/485907-2002-vx-ss-commodore-30000-ono/
