Im jaded after getting defected on Saturday night and pinged with a DECC inspection :(

I wasn't speeding, but i did change gears right about the time i saw the cops hit the lights, so they probably heard the valve. <-- which is getting removed asap. (came with car)

But the funny thing was, while being escorted by two bike cops to the checking station, one speeds off and chases down another skyline, then brings him back to line up behind me, and off me the other line and two bike cops go to the inspection station. That skyline was just cruising past, i didnt even hear it with my window down, plus we passed heaps of other cars that could have been pulled over. Lines are obviously more of a target then some other vehicles,

So skylines cop magnets, probably not, but something that cops will notice more then other cars, yeah sorry but they are eye and ear catchers.

To a degree all imports are somewhat targets, I mean if your car screams 'look at me' your going to have a higher chance of being stopped for no reason than anyone else or if you drive like a spastic.

I usually only see tards stopped in imports by police

You are more likely to get pulled up in a crappy looking old falcon or commodore than a nice looking skyline.

Or in an import that was once a good looking car that has had a teenager loose on it for a few days with loads of crappy bolt on bits with aftermarket bumpers that havent been fitted properly/made for that car.

If your car looks 'cared' for then your less likely to get pulled up in it unless a cop has a special dislike for moddified cars

drove a r32 gtr with massive wing, roll cage, semi slicks, 400+hp on the road for 3 years without only bieng pulled once for missing my p plates....

and one breath test station outside a school one morning along with other cars..

Just keep it simple at least from outside to at least make it less appealing for them to check it. i own mine for more than a year and not once got pulled over (touch wood, fingers crossed!!!!)

i got breath tested a few times and each time my car got stared at.. i didn't notice but my wife said to me afterward the guy was constantly looking at your car but lucky never got checked .. but i won't be afraid if they check it .. i will happily open the bonnet for them :D .. it's stock standard

But hey.. it's import.. what do you expect.. they can defect you for anything they want.

so don't hold your expectation high :(

and yes .. it is a cop magnet .. it has been proven from time to time :)

I have been driving skylines for over 6 years and have never been hassled "for driving a skyline". My R31 even had a loud exhaust on it, aftermarket wheels and a front mount (not to mention the 5 puck clutch and locked diff).

MYTH BUSTED.

I'd say it all depends on the area, where you live whether in the city or bush, in the city, your more likely to get pulled over as there will be a fair bit of cops, but in the bush, most cops there couldn't be bothered.

Yeah I was gonna say location will play a big part in it

Let me put it this way...yes, if you drive a Sports Car you will attract a little more attention from everyone...but if you drive like a total dick, then the Cops will give you special attention too...does this answer your question.

Just drive it decently and avoid dick-like behavior and you should be right. If wanna squirt it, do it on a track...the roads are for normal travels not street racing. Done.

Got pulled up for the first time in my Skyline at Pacific Fair on Saturday...

Was driving through the bus area and a cop steps in front of me to inspect my vehicle.

Guess they thought I was a schoolie or something cause I said to the chick cop I never expected them in a shopping centre driveway. She said, "This is the last place I wanted to be on a Saturday." They were puling over every 2nd car though.

    • CTIS (Central Tire Inflation System) has existed since the 80's. I'm looking into buying a Hummer H1 and they generally included it.
    • My idle is set at 950rpm though - Moving the timing around 20 degrees is not really what I'd call a calm idle. That said... neither is chop, by definition. The LS ECU likes to adjust timing to hold idle as opposed to air. It'd work, but generally speaking there'd be a discrepancy in the base idle and the IACV would want to move the timing around anyway to maintain said idle. I think I'm just going to keep the timing steady anyway. Preserve my engine mounts.  My aircon is now officially regassed. As the guy was reversing I noticed my reverse lights do not operate, along with my reverse cam. This is a bit distressing, because 100% of guides talk about which wire to connect to backup cams as "the goes with the [other color] wire". Often when doing conversions. Unfortunately the R34 colour wires aren't documented Unfortunately I had a T56 Magnum gearbox with it's reverse switch, which also isn't documented. Unfortunately there's definitely not documentation for people with both of these in the one car. Unfortunately I forgot. After many hours of this, I have a reverse cam and reverse lights again. The wire going through the trans tunnel to the reverse switch had broken. Upon inspection, it looks like this one wire had about 7 spade terminals and extensions in it.. for reasons I cannot possibly comprehend. I also spent the 750 hours required to clean up the wiring behind my head unit which now looks like this: This is a monumental improvement relative to what used to be there WRT triple gauges, head unit, traction control, wideband controller, and whatever the f**k OEM stuff still exists there in various states of connectivity/needed. Next step is to check in at the Exhaust shop to see/confirm how much clearance I have, to decide what mid mufflers or 'resonators' (which are just straight through, narrower mufflers) I can add and hopefully cut out a lot of exhaust leaks, pinhole, v-band or otherwise. But first step will be to 'take a look' before the next step.
    • Fark the AFM card and Nistune, Haltech Nexus S3, DBW, cruise control, flex fuel, dis dat.
    • It's most likely the bolt/bush where the cover bolts back wore and allowed cover to move forward.
    • Still haven't put the injectors and R35 AFM in so we can tune the bloody thing for the HG highflow it got mid last year! I think I can forecast the upgrade path to a bigger twin scroll, external gate, Haltech, flex setup, Samsonas, dis dat, etc will be .... a while away!
