hey guys,

looks like im getting a stag as i just put down a deposit on an RS4S

is $13k a good price for one of these? Im thining it is as there are other selling for around $16k and they are series 2 autos

I haven't looked at the car yet cos i'm out of state but when i do what are the main things to look out for particularly on a factory manual one? (i've read the buyers guide and know about the rust under the mirrors)

Specs of the car: 1999, 80,000kms, factory manual, yellow, dayz body kit (i think, its the one with carbon bits on it), boost guage and turbo back exhaust and pod filter are the only mods

Thanks

Tom

hard to say without seeing the car mate.

have a look through the buyers guide. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Bu...n-C-t92065.html

also very handy to get a mechanic to look at it for peace of mind.

i got my auto 98 rs4 for $10 500 - low (wound back - c'mon a 98 vehicle with 65000kms!) kms and no sunroofs

mechanically brilliant, rust beginning under the mirrors (not visible unless you take the mirrors off)

it is the base modle and was completely stock including radio

exhaust to to yourself is about $500 2nd hand to $1000 jdm bolt on one

manuals are more sought after

yours is a days too with guages and stuff

yep i think $13 is worth it pending mechanical evaluation by an independent mechanic

also if there is no evidence of a 100,000 (genuine km) service, drop the price by $500

thanks, i would put up the link but he has taken it off carsales already

the car looks pretty clean, i'll post some picks that he sent me

in the pics it has 20's on it but it doesn't come with them (they look a bit ghey to me anyway)

enjoy :(

Mate, assuming its in good mechanical condition etc (which going by the kms it should be - IF they're genuine that is), you're getting a VERY good buy.

I sold my auto rs4 last year for just under $13K and that was in good condition, 95000km, 1999 model, with mods and 160awkw. there were minor scratches on the paint but nothing unusual for a 1999 model car.

The manuals usually sell for $2-4K more, depending on condition etc. because they're more rare. DAYZ doesn't add a whole lot (at least not to the price), mostly just branding/aesthetics/bodykit etc as far as I know. Someone on here may be able to tell you if that is a factory DAYZ model (i thought they had "DAYZ" written on the dash etc). could just be a standard model with dayz kit.

Still, looking at the pics, at $13K I'd say you should be VERY happy with that. :(

I'd get someone to check the vin number in fast to see what it pops up as. The dayz front bars are very desirable.

From the photos it looks fine, one weird thing is that the climate control unit, cd player and the triple gauge cluster are all not in their normal positions. they are usually the other way around.

PS I paid $19.5k for a yellow RS4S in January this year, and I thought it was a good price. It has a powerFC though and aftermarket suspension.

as long as it checks out mechanically, should be fine

are you going to get it checked out e.g. http://www.stateroads.com.au/ ?

i would definitely get an inspection done if you're not able to see it before buying

i just paid $15k for a "52,000 km" black RS Four S from a stealership, so $13k sounds ok

Mate by my calculations yes pending mechanical inspection and how it drives your getting a very good deal....

This is nothing to worry about and means nothing.

I ran the vin with fast, all checks out fine.

Confirmed it is a genuine manual RS4-S, yellow with no major options.

13k seems like a good deal considering it is close to standard and not optioned up.

sweet

thanks to everyone, get back and get to have a look at it on monday so i cant wait

gonna take my mate along who knows too much about skylines, and i know a fair bit myself (but not as much as i would like)

i will print out the checklist too and go through that and i may take it to an ultratune for an inspection if i can

just cant wait to get my hand on it

just cant wait to get my hand on it

LOL...

i was saying the same thing out on the town sat night... just not out allowed :D

www.redtube.com might be helpfull to ya. not for L or P platers this one...

i payed a bit more..99 model 80,000kms..... 18k for mine but then mine had ALOT of extras..

black (blacks more expensive for some reason :D) , carbon fibre hood, FMIC, pod, bov, 3" straight exaust (no cat LOL) and an aftermarket freeway dolphin kit, and suspension.. not to mention the twin sunrooves :( =]

13k sounds like a good deal tho for a factory dayz

hope it goes well!

the passenger strut tower. next to the strut brace top bolt. looks very strange ??

like some one bashed it ? or replace metal ? or bog? double check that.

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/St...tml&hl=rust

thats my result in not checking completely turns out there was bog on my towers!!!!

other than that, car looks sweet as!

    • Somehow Vertimass/Oak Ridge National Labs has figured out a catalyst that can convert ethanol into C9-C10 hydrocarbons in basically a single step without ending up with a bunch of ethylene or similar waste products: https://patents.google.com/patent/WO2023224867A1/en I still don't think anything like this will keep us from needing to transition to EVs regardless along with all kinds of other electrification, but things like this will go a long way towards alleviating the problem of how to electrify things like planes. Renewable diesel is seemingly an easier problem as well, Chevron is already running refineries for the stuff and the primary feedstock is tallow and other waste fats from agriculture.
    • Ok so I have sorted everything with my uniclutch and  i can offer up a bit of feedback and some things that might help others.    I found problems with factory damper line. Weird shit and had trouble with peddle adjustment    I used this https://au.gktech.com/products/r33-gts-t-skyline-braided-clutch-line?_pos=2&_sid=22b01b9b9&_ss=r Also when adjusting peddle leave a bit of play. You can get into a over stroke condition easy.. Make sure you can push the slave forward after adjusting to confirm fluid can return to master then you will need to pump it up heaps…..not sure why but that’s how it is.    last thing the splined adapter is machined perfectly. If your input shaft is old like mine was I would put a bit of valve grinding paste on it and stroke it like a 15 year old. Just to give it a tad more clearance and to better match it to the spline.    reason is on a near flat shift I have had situation where the peddle returns a millisecond after you lift from the clutch. No slip or anything but I reckon this is due to tolerance on the spline being way tighter than stock clutch and binding for a sec. I think this will go away but also my spline was old. Box is old so I guess I should have checked better. It’s a super neat fit.    it feels light as and holds awesome without any noise

    • Was that Australia Delivered Duncan? Does it have siren etc?   I used to have remote start on an old 32 two decades ago, it was a cool feature. I used to wake up early in winter for work. Start it and by the time i was out the door a few minutes later the engine was warmed up and the heaters had the car toasty. It was great.    I don’t mine the ambience lighting.  I drive a western star and it has footwell lights and ambient lighting and it’s great! From the pics of seen of them installed in a skyline I think it’s a nice touch
