Do you guys know of any tuner in SA that is familiar with this product?

I want to increase my boost, upgrade injectors and get a stand alone engine management system. I love to get the Power FC but it's not available for my car  This toy has got a lot of potential though.

Many thanks in advance

how bout martin rites somethin in either HPI or Speed about how me and other sa guys get ***d up the ass by the police and regency.....

Unfortunately its the demographic you are in. Most that get pulled over and defected richly deserve it. Some, like you, dont. The Police have a very clear mental picture of what they consider to be 'troublemakers' drive, and Skylines one of them. If you dont want the hassle, drive a Falcon. If you dont want to drive a Falcon, make sure your car is bone stock.

There is no easy answer

Bit of topic but since Martin has posted a few reply to differant questions.....

Have you had any experience with the new Tomei Reytec ECU's? I am deciding what to do about programable managment on mt 32GTSt, and was thinking about either this or the AP Engineering version of the PowerFC? Any input would be greatly appricieated, as I will be getting you to tune it

sorry to hijack the thread a bit

Thats a bit of a cop out isnt it? This 'demographic' you talk of is the readers of the magazines. WE pay THEIR wages, our money goes in YOUR pocket, through continued support. Why the hell cant they try and do something posistive in response. If we were all indigineous people would everyone just turn their backs on us and say 'you belong to xxx demographic - bad luck.

HPI and SPEED survive because people like to mod cars - why should people who like to mod cars be persecuted and singled out.

Also, didnt you say you would take regency to task if it was found that James cerfiro got defected because it appeared in an article in HPI? What happened there?

You advertise your illegal mods to the XR6 turbo you drive, page by page and step by step, as you did with your soarer. People read these magazines for inspiration and ideas on what mods to do, yet you can sit back and essentially say stiff shit, buy a falcon?????

No, actually I am way out of line, I appologise - hey everybody, drive falcons and buy Streetmachine - fark this skyline/import crap.

I agree with Steve. Why dont the people in the tuning / import industry make a stand to support the ppl like us who support them?

Why?....cos when we get :shake: up the as$, who do we turn to, when our cars have to be brought back to std. Then when.....sorry, IF we make it through Regency who will happily mod our cars again???

Steve,

Point 1: The XR6 has been drive cycle tested for ADR3700 and 2800 and passed type compliance on both fronts. It costs money, but it can be done. Speak to a consulting engineer and pay the expenses if you want to do the same for your car. Have a considered approach when questioning the legalities of peoples products and actions, particularly when you represent a business on this forum. My Soarer, like your car, was in full contravention of these same ADRs, and, no, should never have been driven on the road.

Point 2: I do not agree with the way cars are being defected at the moment. It would appear that minorities are being singled out for persecution, rather than the whole lot being treated as a level, and equally accountable playing field. Every car on the road has to meet its original ADR type compliance, or have proven engineering documentation to show same, regardless of brand or manufacturer, to in part avoid potentially being defected. That is, and always has been the law. My point is, and was, while there is so much unnecessary 'bling' around, they will look past the local heaps, and like blue hatted Bower Birds go straight for the bright shinies.

As for Cefiro scenario? RTA refused to make a comment. Publishing companies also arent too interested in the potential scuffle with the Police Media Unit - a VERY powerful group of lawyers. All I can suggest, is that if you dont want to be defected, then adhere to the law. If you dont want a legal car - and theres nothing fun about that - then dont draw attention, be careful where you drive etc. etc. Thats why my Soarer did 1500km in a year...which is one reason I got rid of it.

Steve... steve.. steve,

why is it your post is always in such anger over Regency? I dont like what they do just as much as you do but you have to get a grip and get over it man. Ive been defected probably more times than you. Trust me. Yet I find myself being more upset towards SAPOL than the people at regency.

I understand your point but every single post you put up seems to eventually come to the regency subject. And you always end the post with words of anger! Anyway, good luck with your campaign.

Well said martin if you want a fast illigal car try to keep it a standard looking as possible, wheels, exhaust etc etc and let all the wankers with big crome rims on there commonwhores get pulled over, if you want a hot car get every thing engineered and cover your arse at every stage. Sorry just my point of view and that doesnt mean much

from what i gather, and what everyone else says, engineering means nothing anymore.

Steve im right behind you mate, couldn't agree with you anymore!!!!

NA, You're havin a go at steve, who's the only person that probably any of us know, whos trying to do something about the bullshit that goes on @ regency, and the cops picking on us on the road.... the only person with the balls, or the brains, to at least have a go and do something about this crap thats going on... yet you tell him to get a grip and get over it?? You're dreamn mate, you need to get the grip and realise that you're being walked all over when you get defected, and intend on letting it stay that way..

If 600PS was defected ,and it was fully engineered, and regency said nar and 2 go and get ****ed, Im sure you'd be complaining too.

NA, You're havin a go at steve, who's the only person that probably any of us know, whos havin a go at the idiots are regency... the only person with the balls, or the brains, to at least have a go and do something about this crap thats going on... yet you tell him to get a grip and get over it?? You're dreamn mate, you need to get the grip and realise that you're being walked all over when you get defected, and intend on letting it stay that way..

1. No im not having a go at Steve. As I said, he should cool it alittle.. Sometimes its no point being so upset at things that are out of our control. IF he can change it, great.

2.Im not as you put it dreaming. I dont think I am being walked all over. I know my cars are defectable. Do not Comply with the SA Road Traffic ACT and has items that are not ADR approved. So what? When I drive it, I have to be smart to know that there is a chance for me to get defected and I take the risk. at the end of the day, ITS MY DECISION to have such a car.

    • Sorry for resurrecting an oldish thread Not much has happened in the past year since the last update. The car did another 1000 miles or so and failed the MOT for the first time in October (failed on tyres which had been advised for a couple of years) In October the car got put up for sale and was removed in November due to no interest, being so close to christmas it was to be expected. The roads were dry in February so I decided to tax it early and get the new tyres fitted.   Fast forward to April, I got someone in to give the car a good clean after sitting for the winter.                                 The car got re-advertised and today (Saturday 3rd May) the car sold. The new owner is planning a GTR conversion at some point and a respray in the same pearl white. It's bitter sweet, it's a shame to have the car sit there for half the year and then only do 1000 miles. The kids are growing too quick and space in the back is getting limited. It's been a great 6.5 years of ownership
    • And if you want more power, more reliably, and cheaper, go get the Aussie RB... The 4L Barra and put that in instead.
    • No cats will keep discolouring the rear bar. Sends white paint a weird yellow stain. Cut and polish normally gets it out, but you'll be doing that every fortnight I found.
    • Both heads will be equally reliable or unreliable depending on what you do to them.  Stock the RB26 head will flow more. You have access to the stock intake ITB manifold on the RB26 cheaply which flows really well(1000hp+).   Arguably more aftermarket support for RB26, though in Aus we love our RB30 SOHC heads too.    The only downsides to the RB26 head is if you have a VL commodore and want to keep the SOHC look.  Where you may have an issue is drilling out the rb30 block for the bigger head studs but if you are building a big power motor you'd probably put bigger studs on the SOHC head too.  This is just about finding a good machine shop, sometimes easier said than done.  RB30 head worked can make big power just like a Rb26 head, so really it actually more comes down to what your preference is for your car.  People now even making billet versions of both.
    • 2630s work perfectly well. There is something to be said for just using the 30 head, as it saves all the pain of the conversion, still makes tons of power, still sounds cool, etc etc. 2630 will obviously make more power again, but the differences are not stupidly big. It really depends on whether you're racing for sheep stations or not. If it's dead serious, then it's a 26 head. If it's just for fun, it could go either way. But the 26 head and the effort to get it set up, etc etc, is part of the fun.
