Hey all,

After a 4hour drive i developed a slight miss, this miss soon turned into a full blown one now my 180 sounds like a wrx!

I thought initially that it could have been plugs so i changed them.

After this i decided to switch coil pack sequence to see if they were the fault but the issue remained in cylinder 2.

Does anyone have any suggestions of things I can try before sending it to the mechanic?

Plugs, loom connecting to the Coil packs and the earth wire to the coil packs (on the end of the loom close to 4th cyc).

Thanks mate il have a look at that. I woulda thought tho that if the earth became disconnected I would have lost all cylinders?

Im going to see if i can get a compression test done too, unfortunately i dont have the equipment to do it myself.

Yeah it would. just means valves either warped so it doesn't really seat, or it's actually fully burnt and has failed, letting compressed air and fuel out before it can be burnt. your plugs will still fire, your injectors will still function, but basically it will sound like shit, go even worse, and yeah... basically just do not drive it because there's a serious problem.

replacing the valve won't solve the cause of the burnt valve though. hot spots in the engine, exhaust gas temperature, shitloads of possibilities.

tell us a little bit about the engine?

edit: is the injector still working in cylinder 2 though?

Im fairly sure the injector is just knackered, i put a screwdriver on it and then put my ear against it and couldnt hear it ticking while on others i could.

So my question is, if i run injector cleaner thru it will it actually work or am i just wasting money?
