KezR33
Hey guys, in need of daily. Looking at spending up to $10k, but would rather spend less. Needs to be: - Decent on fuel - Reliable - Not girly - 4 door I don't want something too old, or with too many k's. Whilst looks aren't important, I'd like to have something that wasn't hideous or too girly. I'm really quite stumped, so I'd appreciate any help. Thanks. scathing
Friend's in the same boat. She saw a Mazda3 in that price range. Same with some Mark IV Golfs. But, in terms of reliability, its hard to go past a Corolla/Civic. What's fascination with the 4age anyway? I looked it up on wiki, but it mentions nothing about the cult following it has. To all the others, thanks for the responses too. Dorigecko
What's fascination with the 4age anyway? I looked it up on wiki, but it mentions nothing about the cult following it has. Cult following may be due to the fact it was the weapon of choice in initial D. Realistically, they are a friggin brilliant engine. sound good, go hard, easy to work on, makes decent power, and paired up with an AE82, AE92 be it hatch or seca, or the levins from year dot to year line. I reckon either a quick little runabout like the ae92 corolla secaSX with the 4age powerplant, or something cool. like this: newer Cressiddaaaaaaa!! evil_weevil
actually, a TJ series magna would be the pick. smooth 3.5l v6, better build quality than local products. ARTZ
dont rely on the internet too many people try to buy cars on the net with no idea what they are like to drive...everyone has different perceptions as to what is good to drive...any car can be good if you treat it right...try stick to decent brands as you would if buying a tv or something...that way you get better resale... Just go down to a carsales place and try a few different ones...youll know what to buy when your in it.. then find one on the net Edited November 6, 2009 by doozooby Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/295087-recommend-me-a-daily-driver/#findComment-4922259 Share on other sites
KezR33
Hey, why did you want a daily when you have an n/a supra? My gearbox just blew. I'm considering selling the Soop and just buying a daily driver till I'm of my P's. Not worth having a car like this on my income when I need it for daily driving. Not worth having a car like this on my income when I need it for daily driving. Well if that is the case i would be getting somethin a fair bit less than $10k. That way you can save more for the next proper car (after p's). Corolla's for like $3/4k are pretty much trouble free. BUT that is easier said than done Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/295087-recommend-me-a-daily-driver/#findComment-4922326 Share on other sites
scathing
What's fascination with the 4age anyway? I looked it up on wiki, but it mentions nothing about the cult following it has. As a rule of thumb, "cult following" is a euphamism for "weirdos who like dumb shit". Notice how all "cult movies" are rubbish? Seriously, though, the 4AGE is good for what it is. Some of the good ones pushed 100kW, which is not a bad figure for a 1.6L engine now, let alone back in their day. They're also very physically compact, which is why you see them getting dropped into kit cars. They did get used for motorsport, so you do find a fair few mods for them and mechanics who know how to build the engines up. I would have suggested a N15 Pulsar SSS but they are a bit long in the tooth, and Nissan build quality isn't fantastic. They did come standard with everything you'd need in a daily (air con, power windows/mirrors) and the SR20DE isn't a bad motor. Any Nissan hatch after the N15 isn't even worth considering. GTR-N1
5th Gen Prelude VTiRs have now dropped below the 10K mark. Build quality great. Fuel consumpt'n good, in the 9s (l/100Km).
