I think thats ridiculous what happens of your eating dinner which has been cooked with alcohol? .02 would be a better alternative IMO, (and not admitting to my asianess or anything...) but especially chinese food (i.e. Drunken Chicken) which is exactly what it sounds, is drenched in wine would definitely raise your BAC. I think this is rather stupid in the US (which I know I'm not in anymore I'm not saying its' better or trying to start something I'm just comparing) the legal limit is .08 (actually .07 but they have a .01 tolerance) although I guess you can consider that the trade off for the drinking age lol

I was able to be on 0% EVERY DAY when I drove cabs. I did that for years. Not ONCE did I have any trouble with it. You'll find that most meals with alcohol in them, by the time you finish desert/coffee/sitting around gas bagging, you'll be clear to drive. If there's enough alcohol in your dinner to have you still reading over 0 by the time you get around to driving... holy shit is the only thing I can say to that.

I imagine Gen Y will have the biggest problem with this issue.

Alcohol isn't a necessity, people need to realise that.

Why can't you sit back and have a couple of cold cokes? Why does it have to be alcoholic? Why not home made lemonade? Iced tea? If you need alcohol to 'relax' you probably should be in a program

Nope, I don't think it's silly at all. Like I say. I did it for years. All other bus/taxi drivers, truck drivers, police officers, paramedics etc etc etc have to do it. So why not EVERYONE who goes on the road? Hell even pilots and train drivers have to.

The less variable the better as far as I'm concerned. One rule for all.

ACTUALLY....Not to 1 up you or anything but bus/taxi drivers are allowed to have .02 BAC, and in the US (cause I dont know the laws here but I'm assuming they might be similar) .04 for a personal plane (over your own property) and .019 for all other pilots

QLD taxi drivers are 0.00 (I may still have the book somewhere if you need me to prove it) as are our other transport drivers. Pilot information I was given by my brother who has had his pilot's licence for 15 years

Isola you really seem to hate alcohol..and thats fine. However anyone that does like to enjoy a beer does not have a problem, I think most enthusiasts on site such as this hate the fact that some people drink and drive but enjoy a bevo all the same. Just in moderation if you need to drive somewhere.

Well funny that considering you were AT WORK, I was always 0.00% AT WORK as well, in my own time though I should be free to at least have 2 beverages with dinner.

If you're feeling the need to drink during work hours, then you may just have a slight issue with the bottle...social hours and with moderation (keeping under 0.05) there is no issue.

You can't tell me that you haven't had at least one drink and gotten in your car to drive? What about all the people wanting to have a drink after work? or all the people going to rsl's or any restaurant for that matter. I'm certain that not everyone will want a soft drink with there dinner either as I like to have the occasional wine when I go to a restaurant. I don't think this is the solution at all! If anything they should have harsher penalties for drivers over the limit. If your under .05 BAC it's not going to affect your judgement or motor skills anyway!
