R32 Owners Club

Recommended Posts

Hi there

For some time now I have been contemplating starting up a car club for Owners of R32 Skylines.

Reason being Is I believe the 32 is a pretty special car, its a bit of a skyline classic in my eyes.. like the HR31.

Not looking to cut anyones grass here, just think it would be great to have a community of dedicated 32 owners

keen on your thoughts

I would have thought that "Strength In Numbers" is the way to move forward - and I'm not having at go at you for proposing a club that for some, could be construed as a 'splinter group'!!!!!!!!!

My reason is simply this...

An R32 Owners Club has the prospect of dying, even before it is born! Same with the R31 Club!

Why?

Simple Maths! They're not made anymore!!!! Prelude Australia has great guys; but it's still dying! MG Club is the same!

Strength in Numbers?

So long as Nissan continues to make GT-Rs (even tho' the R35 isn't strictly a 'Line) SAU's strength will continue to grow, expand and get stronger!

Looking after each Subforum Set with its own Advocates?

Why not propose to SAU to have a R32 subforum then?

The R35 group do - and it's successful!

I have an utmost respect for Sewid  who must spend hours each week researching & sourcing material on R35s! :)

What an asset he is - not just to the R35 subforum - but to the future of SAU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Moral?

With your passion, you can do the same.

SAU?

The NSW branch has already arranged for 2 major events for R32s alone that are big, BIG, BIG, MASSIVE !!!

I respect your input Terry, I'm sure you agree that just because a model isn't being made anymore does not mean its going to be forgotten or people are going to stop playing with them Nor enjoy them.

Yes SAU has a HUGE number of people,. Imo its pretty hard to get to know everyone here because there is such a large number of people.

I see it would be another place for 32 owners to mingle into a smaller community which to me is more personal and do writeups about there cars, & would mean alot easier to find parts rather than having to sift through pages of 33, 34, 31 threads

not to many 32 owners putting in interest on the topic tho LOL

Not really a sensible argument Terry. For starters my parents (not) in law just bought a 1949 Vauxhaul Caleche through their club which still runs strong even though Vauxhaul hasn't actively sold cars in Australia for 30 years (I know GM but..). Infact I might argue the opposite that it's only when a car stops being made and becomes collectible and desirable from a heritage point of view that model and period specific clubs can work. However the critical thing is why have a 32 specific group? What makes a 32 so different to a 31 or 33? What specifics would a 32 club cater too that an R chassis club wouldn't? At the moment it's historical, 4-door, stagea.. etc forums with R35 getting pole position :). I think it is much more likely that in the near future this club may need to move to R sub-forums and V sub-forums (yes Terry, they do still make skylines too :) they are up to V37 now and I think V38 is around the corner?).

All that said as an avid R32 lover (I own 2 already :)) I'm never going to say no to such a group :).

I would be all for an R32 club, or even just a subforum for now, Yes an R- series forum probably would work too, but let's face it, SAU at this stage is pretty much 90% R-series, with Stagea, R35, classic and V-series so they do not get lost amongst all of the R33 GTsT stuff.....

R32 GTR classic yes... nothing less than the red emblem is considered a classic. In my opinion.

thedirtiesttwo club would state that all 32s are dirty.. the dirtiest thing about mine is it backfires and scares small kids LOL

just something easy for people to remember.. R32SKYLINECLUB.COM

R32Owners Club is for VW's so I didn't want them to crack the shits, I know there is R31skylineclub.com but I didnt choose the name because of them, It just describes the car.

for now it will be WA Based in regards to events ect... overtime once I get to know most of you, responsible people who are willing will be chosen to be organizers of events in your state. But Nothing stopping those wanting to just organise R32 cruises or even all-round skyline cruises for that matter on the forum:)

I don't EXPECT for it to do well but I think its worth seeing how it goes.

Good onya man! Well done for doing something about it.

I love the R32. I think they are the best shaped skyline of all time.

My brother has owned two of them, and one day I'd love to have a R32 GTR V-spec sitting in my garage.

In actual fact, I'd see an explosion of dudes signing up to be part of an R32 Club at first!

As the yrs go by, there inevitably will be a dwindling...

Out of 42,934 BNR32 GT-Rs produced + GTs added = A most sizeable sum!

less the number written off over 20 yrs

less those that have been parted out

less cancer-riddled ones called 'rust-buckets'

less those in UK

less those in NZ

less those in HK, Thailand, Indonesia yaddayadda...

If I had an R32, I'd like to establish a subforum on this type of model at SAU. After all, Godzilla is Godzilla!

The R35s do

And do you know what SAU has planned for the R32?

Lotza goodies !

As I said before, there's greater strength in numbers! I don't see any reason to resile from that yet.
