Queensland Raceway or Lakeside. You can do a lot of stuff on an AASA Clubman License (Sprints, Drift, etc). $55 a year and you don't even have to do a test. There's also drags at willowbank, I don't think you need any licence for that.

Take it to a track, lakeside or QR... Straight line use Willowbank drag strip...

Anywhere else and you risking your life and more importantly the life of others...

Skyline drivers are not snobs, they just get sick of being pulled over cause there are a few "hoons" who like to drive them and taint the whole image...

start at a track, or even a skidpan, where there is plenty of room for you to spin out with no telephone poles, gutters, police and let alone innocent people

Thanks sorry I see. I was thinking more like a piece of totally open road with no other traffic, i guess in the old days you could go bush and drive fast out there. So there are racetracks? How much do you pay for insurance and use of a racetrack?

I was kinda hoping this would be a friendly scene.. I used to be involved in classic car racing and hill climbs in the UK and this was a very friendly scene, although i didnt own my own car my uncles had old racers from the 30s and 40s! Im just looking for a new hobby, ive given up on motorbikes since a nasty accident.

Some people have lost their licence due to speeding, or getting defects, others have lost loved ones due to other people speeding etc.

When you post about racing or whatever down "open roads" with no cops you can't expect anything different from what has been posted above. It's foolish and idiotic.

Keep your racing to the track, the links have been provided at the top for you so visit their websites, give them a call and they will be able to answer your questions on costs etc.

Racing down an 'open road' is just as stupid as racing down the middle of town. Your life is just as valuable as the person next to you, even if you don't believe it yourself.

No, but some of them on this forum are the biggest nazis ever, its mainly the old farts. Just ignore them. Just find yourself an industrial area and have yourself a ball. Willowbank is in the middle of no-where and you have to drive ages to get there from anywhere in brisbane and plus you gotta get licence and entry fee, and pretty similar story to qld raceway.

Tristan is like 12, he is not old he is just not fully sick.

Some places where you can have a good drive but not break the speed limit include Nt Nebo, Mt Mee, Esk-Hampton Road and Gold - Coast Springbrook road

As far as going to an industrial estate that is neither fun nor safe fail ++

      Getting Dangerously close to being ready to go back in the car. Rockers in with clearance castings now (and a quick check with the USA for the torque settings for the larger custom bolts) Covers and ported FAST Manifold sitting on there. Not fully tightened down as there's some clearancing required for the water pump with the earlier LS1 water pump styles. Example of the clearancing needing to be done: The body has to be ground a little but I'm struggling finding an actual piece of it. The later variant of water pump resolves the issue as the manifold was designed around it. It only came on the VZ LS1 in Australia, it got a different pulley for Gen4 motors. (it also costs $450... vs... $0).

      Doing some height adjustment on front suspension on a v35 and noticed this. The passenger side looks correct. So wondering what's happened to the drivers side?

      Oh...I have the electric mirrors as well iirc ...they're in the same state as just about every other R31 door mirrors, with the 3 plastic screw towers broken/cracked in the plastic molding. All the interior is 'dry', so the mirror switches etc likely all work fine. Some pics below of the trimmer pieces ~ looks to me like previous owner, painted chrome finished trims with black paint ...ergo, the chrome underneath is likely a-ok... ...starts to look yukky posting stuff like this, how much did it cost in fuel on your last sortie up this way?...me just thinking aloud, borrow someone else's 4cyl to cut costs, come do your own pick'n'pull like before to save me some bother...hehe.. but whatever, I'll just earmark bits I know you want, because the way this is all panning out, I'll be able to retire the R31 from daily duty at long last, replacing it with a Subaru wagon I'm lining up in the wings...ergo, my attitude towards the donor pinny shell is starting to wane a bit, and I'm more than happy to help you out there... Like you say though, no rush...and I'll guarantee we won't be moving too far from this locale at any rate 馃槑
