I went down to Calder last week to run my new car...It's totally factory condition '95 manual GTSt with 68,000 on the clock.

All my times were around the 15.5 sec mark with my best 60ft being 2.4

However I could not go faster than 89mph at the top end? :D

My friend also reported seeing my car blowing some black smoke on most of my runs?

Is it me or my car that is making my top end so slow.

Please help as I beat two friends off the line only to be run down and passed at 3/4 track :Oops:

Nick

An r33 in stock form run quite rich. You could easily bump your boost up to 10psi and install a full 3" exhaust (about $1000) and your overall performance would be dramatically improved (i'd say easy 0.5sec althought more than likely more).

Another thing (irrelevant to the black smoke) is to install a set of pineapples (PM "Dr_Drift") and for about $170 installed you will have greatly improved rear traction. This will help your 60ft time (the closer to 2.0sec the better) and improving your 60ft time will improve your top end speed.

Another cheap idea would be to replace the filter in your standard airfilter box with a K&N Panel Filter (think they are under $100). This will also give you better power throughout the entire 400m and also improve your times.

Conclusion:

* K&N Panel Filter

* Pineapples

* 10psi Boost

= <$350

Just with the very minor mods listed above (filter + boost) you should gain around ~15rwkw which is enough to make you notice the difference whilst driving). That should knock close to 1sec off your times with practice practice practice.

well for a 15 second quarter then you would expect around that mph wouldnt you ?

You might need to up the boost a little to get a little more top end.

Skylines should do late 14's stock. check your tyres.

black smoke = good. White smoke = bad. blue smoke is bad too
