Got my 1st Defect

Was driving through the city last night (La Trobe) and got pulled over for a *random* (my arse - the cop came up the tram lines to over take all the cars behind me especially to pull me over) license and breath test.

He got bored while he waited and got defected for bald tires He didnt pop my bonnet thankfully, but looked inside, and said that my boost guage was ok (mounted on steering column) and my razo knob was ok cos I had the shift pattern sticker next to it.

Anyway, theres nothing about paying a fine - but do i need to pay to get it cleared at VicRoads?

sorry to hear that dude. think you have to take your car in for a road worthy test if the coppa's wacked a green defect sticker on your window. Once you pass the road worthy test you have to hand in the pass statement to vicroads.

Bald tires arn't a joke though. Last thing you want in a high perf turbo car is bald tires.

Maybe in summer it is ok, but given melb unpredictable weather, you never can tell.

Do you have to get a full RWC or what?? It should be ticked on the Certificate. If not it should cost you nothing

dave all u have 2 do is get new tyres, then head down to vicroads and they clear it

Don't stress mate. 2 new tyres should do and then show it to VicRoads.

I don't think you'll require a full RWC to pass.

yer same thing happened to me other week, just fix what needs to be fixed go see vic roads and its all good form there, then chuck the baldies back on and smoke em up :zap:

hehe dave... thats nothing to worry about. as stated u just need to get the tyres replaced and while ur there tell the guy u had a defect for it... probably give u a slip of some sort for u to take to VicRoads... or they will just come outside and take a look when ur at vic roads... no need for a full RWC.

Yellow defect - need to present my car to vicroads and have all 4 tires cleared. Been on the tread markers for about 500km now and been planning on replacing them any way. Rego is due on the same day as the defect thing, so do that at the same time.

So if anyone has 215/16 tires for a good price - i may just change wheels if i dont find tires.

Waz - I already have other wheels , but at this point planning to keep the R32 rims and buying some 2nd hand tires for them.

Pred, thats the main reason the tires havent been done. Since september I have been in qld more than in melb.. so never drive the car anyway.

U dont even need to take the car to vic roads, just take a receipt showing the purchase of the new tyres and vicroads will clear it for you. If they ask to see the car tell them you were told not to drive the car until the sticker was cleared. Vicroads are so busy especially if u go in abount 12.30pm they dont have any spare time so they will just pass you.
