I can finally confirm the Show'n'Shine is ready to rock and roll.

It has been on the event Calendar for a couple of months, however final confirmation was only just received.

Date: Sat 21st Nov

Time:

Move in 9am-10am

Move out 3pm-4pm

This will be a static car display. You cannot come in later then specified, or leave earlier than specified.

Your car must be on display, and stationary for the duration of the Show'n'Shine due to the nature of the area and public safety requirements.

Location: Waterfront City, Docklands

Entry is via Pearl River Road - refer to map below for details, "X" marks the spot where Marshals for the event will be waiting @ 9am

There is a Tram Stop right out the front as well, Route 30 or 48

Car Limit: A limit of 80 cars is the MAX for this event. Should we run out of room sooner (due to larger cars), we will have to close the gates.

Obviously, Members only. Anyone from the public is more than welcome to come along and checkout the display, however you will not be allowed to enter your car.

How To Enter:

Upon entry onto the grounds you will be greeted by one of our Committee members and given directions.

If you wish to have your car in the Show N Shine and be eligible for voting you must notify our team.

You will be given a "Vote for me" sheet to place on your car with your details upon arriving.

Prizes and Awards:

Trophies will be awarded for "Best in Show" in the following main categories:

• Godzilla class (32, 33, 34 GT-R, one for each) & Best overall GTR

• Godzuki class (31, 32, 33, 34 GTS/GTT one for each) & Best overall GTS/GTT

• WRC class (WRX, Evo)

• Dorifto class (Silvia platform)

• Intruder class (other)

Use of facilities:

The following must be adhered to by all Members attending the day

- Strictly walking pace for cars, hazard lights ON at all times whilst in motion.

- No loud engine revving, starting of engines once stationary, silly compressor nuisance noises.

- No unwanted behaviour on (or when leaving) the park grounds.

- No dumping of rubbish.

IF members do not adhere to the above rules, Committee may ask you to leave. Keep in mind the club will be in the public spotlight and stupidity will not be tolerated.

Other Info:

- Bring whatever you may require for the duration, seats, hats etc. There is no leaving once you are in position until the end time of the show.

- The Piazza has PLENTY of food/beverage stores around, you will not need to go far for any requirements there.

- And issues on the day, see the people in Hi-Vis vests immediately.

Apologies for the late notice, I've only been advised of this

All cars must be Road Registered. So no towing race cars without some sort of rego.

Any questions please post up - see everyone there.

Cheers

Ash

Also guys, this is an absolutely fantastic location...it's right in the middle of the shops/restaurants, so rest assured we will be receiving ALOT of attention from the public :)

There is no "signups" as such guys, its a case of whoever the first 80 are there, get in.

That said, we've never had 80 cars to a S'n'S in any year, thus far.

Closest we have come to 80 was in 2006 @ Birrung Mar. We had approx 65 form my rough counting of a photo.

So allowing for a bit of club growth, few more cars etc, the 80 'cap' should get everyone in is what i am hoping for here.

I just have to cap it due to space issues as i cannot use the entire pier due to restrictions of the venue chosen this year.

Not much notice, but I will try and get the R ready ;)

It's been on the Events Calendar for nearly 2 months now :)

So there has been plenty of notice. This is just the "details" thread.

You don't need details to lock a date into your calendar and/or get prepared do you? :D

I urge everyone to check the calendar regularly! I was unable to announce sooner due to a few issues with the venue/contacts etc.

Best i could do this time, ideally i would have had it up 2 weeks ago with further details.

I also announce things when i can @ General Meetings - pity attendance has been... 'lacking' of late :bunny:

LOL Ash brings out the claws. It's true though guys, if you come to general meetings more often / print out the calendar then you will have all the notice you need.

Ash are you going to put down the list of attendance somewhere in this thread?

We have a committee meeting tonight - so i will bring that up.

Being you'll need to be a paying member to be covered by insurance, non-members won't be able to get out onto the Pier, we won't be letting anyone without a membership to move/enter a car.

In.

Just as long as the car is there it is entered correct?

Reason I ask is I may not be bringing the car down personally.

should be plenty of spectating paying members to drive your car in. fits within the guidelines. (as your a member also)

    • What are you doing with the car? street car or race car? People get hung up on the squat of the s/r chassis rears. There is positives to the squat if a car is setup and driven correctly for it (correct ride height, spring rate, alignment, damper valving). Generally just lengthen the rear traction arm by 5-10mm and that will help the squat and bump steer too. You are also correct with the roll centre too. This too also needs to be adjustable if you start messing with suspension geometry.   Having done quiet a bit of testing on race cars this year in regards to rear squat, I've seen some big positives from it in regards to drive off corners and traction.
    • I find I am using the MX5 for everything except long overnight cruises with Jackie, or, if picking up the kids to go somewhere, the SS has so much more room inside, and is much more comfortable if your going to be doing Hwy driving for 6-8 hours And the MX5 isn't bad in stop go traffic for a manual transmission car, whilst the clutch kit has been upgraded from stock, it is still light, and also not having a stupidly light flywheel in it helps as well, I've spent alot of time sitting on the M5, M4 and M7 stuck in traffic when plodding around the Greater Sydney Region in it Another benefit is MX5's are not really a car that gets stolen, you can pretty much park it anywhere, and it will still be there when you return
    • I can totally get why you like it for that sort of commute. I was thinking BoganDore because it's such a lazy drive, for things like stop start traffic.   I used to do over an hour in stop start shit from one side of Bris to the next, twice a day. My choice of car was larger displacement, with an auto. Basically for torque in low rpm/very low speed, and no clutch pedal. But loved a fun manual for the weekends, which the partner has (plus had the LandCruiser too for other fun drives). I now have an EV as a work car, and I tell ya what, ultimate daily driver, especially if youre out of energy, like I often am after work. I don't even need to touch the brake pedal   That said, I'm presently rebuilding the Liberty GTB to get it setup for weekend drives and track abuse! So small high revving turbo engine with 6 speed cog swapper!   But for your style of commute, I'd probably take the MX5 too!   For those choices, I'm ignoring fuel economy. Because I know how atrocious V8 daily life is for fuel from when I used to daily a manual SS, ha ha. Hence why I know I love the daily rumble of a V8
    • II know what u are saying after 9 years of hibernating my stock engined  110,00km gtt I got it registered 2 weeks ago. Took it for a drive a couple of days ago and some fresh bp fuel, I just couldn’t stop grinning and dreaming of when I will start my build thread. its just such a primal man feeling many forget to enjoy I wish u so much enjoyment with your little racer mate
    • People just don't understand how good MX5's actually are and how fun they are to drive, park, manuever. You feel like you have got some fun cheat code, while everyone else is sitting in their luxobargeSUV like normies who missed the point of living. It really is that noticable. As long as you/your stuff fit, and you're comfortable (they are), a MX5 is the best car on earth to daily around.
