An exhaust will only flow as much as it's weakest link. In your case your cat might be cactus. Also consider the muffler, it may be a restriction as well.

There is little point to changing parts of your exhaust and leaving restrictive parts in.

Maybe think about investing in a new 3" hiflow cat (buy one from BATMBL in these forums).

My car got here dead stock, it was the same way when it left the factory showroom nothing had been changed. First thing I did was fit a 3.25" exhaust system from the cat back (and I have a shitty 2.5" cat, cheap compliance cat put in) and immediately we gained 15kw @ wheels and the exhaust note changed immensley. The car was much quicker, free-reving and boost jumped a little bit. Its not a huge gain in the scheme of things but its the first thing I would change on any car if I was looking for more power as stock exhausts are made for quiteness not flow.

When you say "flared" do you mean they chopped the ends off and converted it to a 3" cat? Or they just made an adapter for it to fit the 3" exhaust? If it's the latter, then your exhaust is effectively the same size as it was before.

Either way you should probably replace it with a new high flow cat. They can become blocked and restrictive with age.

from the seat of the pants feel.....it doesnt surprise me in the slightest.

same with my front mount i/c, i didnt feel a thing.

same with front pipe and dump pipe....nadda!

but when they all came together with boost and powerfc install and tune...yeah, made a big difference....

i dont' think u can feel like a 10kw diff... like franks said ... do the others and u will feel the difference :D

Sorry the peak gain was 18kw, it went from 97kw to 115kw @ wheels. You can definately feel it because the midrange improvement from fitting a free flowing exhaust is huge. Boost comes on quicker and slightly higher and the car revs out faster I could definately feel the difference.

what did you boost increase from with the new exhaust???

Not sure as the boost wasnt measured. Probably 1-2 psi... nothing major. stock boost is limited to around 5-6psi so possibly rose to 8psi.

boost is everything man! 0.1bar = 10rwkw or thereabouts :D

a free flowing exhaust will improve gas flow and as a result allow your engine to breathe better and hence run more boost - naturally :)
