Well guys, its been 7 months and 2 days. When you think they've forgotten or let it go they're just round the corner.

My summons got hand delivered to my door today by a nice police officer. I'm off to court in August for improper use of a motor vehicle as well as driving it in such a manner to cause the wheels to lose traction. On the day it was street racing now its funny how it changes. I'd love to see what proof they have apart from bullshit "eye-witnesses" who've spent the last 7 months collaborating each others stories, perfecting it. And too think... they didn't even charge me without doing a hook-turn... something I, myself, even admit to doing... lol.

I never beleived cops shafted anyone, hearing all these stories about people getting done for things and they absolutely deny... think to yourself "yeah right, just admit you were wrong and move on".... until now :)

Anyhow, I'm going to contact MK Law as people on here have said they're the group to talk to. I shall keep you all posted, I'm going to fight this not sit there and let the "law" tear me a new one.

Mate i'm pretty sure that with the impounding laws there us a limit to the time after the offence that they are allowed to charge u. Im not 100% sure, but u might wanna check this out, coz if theve taken too long then it will be dismissed.

Good luck with ur case buddy and dont forget, they are the enemy!

I had a very similar experience. Best advice I can give is dress well, bring your entire family, get statements of social character (or whatever they're called) from employers, teachers, etc and get a good lawyer.

The magistrate at my court hearing basically took all the above into account and came to the conclusion that I was not the typical hoon and even if I did do what the police officer claimed it was very unlikely that it'd ever be seen in court again. Still got punished, but no conviction, and in the end that's all I was hoping for.

did you ever manage to see if there was any video footage from the area you were seen to be loosing traction..you could still try to use your from the country and have never had to do hook turns and was not sure what to do so you were just trying to leave the intersection before you caused an accident thus causing your wheels to spin on moving out of the said intersection avoiding a possible accident..

I read this tread a long time ago when you first posted any way good luck hope you dont get reamed

mate it sounds like you might just have to "cop" it on the chin, serious i wouldn't try and invest to much money in this. If u didn't get the max sentance, you can have it upgraded. This really detered me from taking my case to court.

What pissed me off the most is that the cop treated me like a fourth class citizen hence i was so keen to take it further. After head lines like "sky is the limit" during pipe down, no wonder they get targeted :)

Like I said, get a lawyer and take their advice. The other problem with fighting it is its incredibally stressful! It's something easier just to take it and know the worst has passed. Mind you I had a serious assault charge against me too (bullshit too) which could've seriously impacted my career, etc.

Mate just had a read, f*k that is a load of bull shit. It is amazing to what effort someone will go to screw you over. I'm seriously amazed that someone can have such a motive (and unhappy life).

Still can't say all officer are like that though. I could imagine what that meant for you, financially, mentaly and carreer wise. Remember though, what goes around comes around -Karma is a bitch

A week after it happened contacted Melbourne council about CCTV footage of the area in question and got some jerk who yeah a you said treated me like a 4th class citizen he wads smartass the whole time and when I sai what i neededit for he said oh well just can't give it to every Tom dick and Harry which is fair enough and I said well I'll get my lawyer to sort it out and he said well by the time u do all that it takes so long and by that time it would have been deleted so he was no help and frankly an arrogant pr*ck. I know I admit to not hook turning ignorance is no excuse, I'll cop that sweet however the losing traction is rubbish my car is n/a (lol) and just had bridgestone adrenalines put on the rear ($500 each!) so even if I wanted to do skids which my car probably wouldn't let me I'd be a dickhead anyway wasting $500 worth of tyre road wasn't wet either it was dry... So all on all hook turn yes that's my bad and yes tried to get CCTV but guy on other end was just useless...

Yes I know copping it sweet may be best way to go I'm stressed already and just want it over so ican move on... Been quoted $1300 for everything from MK Law that people on here have recommended so probably gonna go with that, my mated that also got done (guys I wasfollowing) want to go with legal aid lcos we are students and don't really have that cash to throw away but I don't think legal aid is any good, does anyone know?? Also all our hearings are likesame date and time anyone know how that works??

I hope other people can learn anything from this... I got - don't drive in the city out of it all

Maybe don't drive a skyline lol can you see the correlation :D

When ever i take dad's car there is never any issues

Seriously dunno your financial status but lawyer would be alright if you can afford it, make sure you discuss the contigency factor too, may end up been 3k and will not back out after already paying 1.5k! that would mean you get your fine back though and you could also sue for personal damage (not having a licence and bus money etc). You should also discuss this.

Legal aid is not as bad as you think, but they are not road rules specialist. When i wanted to take them to court they had no idea about kw per tone rule etc and i found it a complete joke. they only understood the word "skyline" lol Give them a call 20min of your time and could save you a bit of cash though.

Yeah MK is good have used him. I had a impound about a year ago aswell got done with wreckless ,endangering, careless, loss of traction and all that stuff. Wrote a letter to the head constable of the police station which was invovled arguing some points of the case write up I got on the summons.

He ended up dropping all the charges besides careless driving if I plea guilty so I ended up accepting, went to court on my own judge didnt really care the charges were dropped gave me 6months and 900 fine, as soon as he heard skyline all over lol. But yeah atleast he didnt cancel my license which probably would of if all other charges were not dropped so now have my license back and am on full.

So what Im saying is go with a lawyer as they can make quite a difference and MK is very good he knows alot of people in the court system such as judges etc I prob would have had a better outcome if I took him for that case.

^so you lost your license for 6 months wow... I need mine to getto uni no public transport...

As for skyline, a lancer and au got done aswell so I don't blame it on the car lol, looks like I'll be definately getting this lawyer.

Im not talking about you getting done for being a skyline, Im saying when your in court infront of a judge and they read out skyline and Ps the judge instantly loves you and also that it happened at night. Put it this way you will not walk free from a impound without prob atleast 6months unless you plead not guilty and win and if you end up losing doing that consider more, also pleading not guilty is not going to be cheap so what Im saying be prepared to lose your lincense just try to not get cancelled and yeah they will not care if you need your licennse not there probelm.

what you have been charged with and compared to what mates of mine have been done for and gone to court for you should be able to get off quite lightly i wouldnt even bother with a lawyer rock up well dressed not over the top tell them what happened you dont think you did anything wrong, maybe your wheels slipping on the tram tracks and that's it. If your driving record for driving is good should go well.

be keen to know your result, i thought it was 6 months you could be summoned after the offence not 12.. that sucks

good luck

    • Uncle Duncan Yeap, FI Interchiller  Works well, normal IAT's cruising with the WTA only went from 50°c+ to 25-30°c with the interchiller  Before, when on it hard, the IAT would see 80-90°c, now, the highest has been was around 38°c IIRC IAT is measured under the blower hat I recommend it for the street or strip where your only on it hard for 10 or so seconds, but it wouldn't be efficient for sustained track use as it would heat soak from the AC turning off or whatever it does during WOT to protect the compressor It really needs the AC running for it to not heat soak and keep the WTA coolant chilled My WTA coolant temps when just cruising is around 2°c
    • Hey Mark...sorry to interrupt your career change to hair dressing... but...did you ever fit the interchiller to the commodore, and if so how was it? And, who made it?
    • I've been pondering this, I really enjoy the convertible thing, for me, it's like riding a motorbike, without all the issue of riding a motorbike, mainly, my old sore arthritic joints getting beaten up, and, being able to do it in shorts and a T-shirt and not needing a helmet and all the other gear required, especially like wearing jackets and pants in the summer, or needing 6 layers of cloths in the winter, or not having wet weather gear handy when your 100km away from home on the bike when it decides to start raining As for the hard top and its Coupe look, whilst I do lose all that open top feeling that I really enjoy, from my experience with the NB with a detachable hard top, the cabin is a much nicer place to be, the difference in noise for one, a hard top quietens down the interior, alot, with the soft top up or down it's pretty noisy, which, after 5 or so hours, can get tiring But, as you stated, the detachable hard top totally changes the look of the car, in a really good way, and for me, the look of a detachable hard top is so much better than the PRHT which looks more like a after thought with its weird bulbous rear roof line For me, the minimal effort of putting in on, or storing it after removing it, is well worth the time and effort for the look alone And yes, I'm sure the next owner will be grateful for it as well.......
    • I get into huffs with people when I suggest the MX5 looks so much better as a coupe than it does as convertible. Pretty sure I don't prefer the convertible version of anything. Good job on the hardtop! The next buyer will appreciate.
    • IMO wrap does have its uses, but like you said, quality wrap, and professional installation, would probably cost want a quality paint job does, but, the paint, if maintained, is basically for life, and much easier to touch up if required  In other news: it's pissing down here, with thunder, lightning and only some small hail "at this stage", luckily all "my" cars are undercover  I've also been contacted by a guy in Newcastle about the SS, he said he will come down next weekend for a look, we'll see how that transpires I guess 🫰
