Anyone game enough to go on record as to who the early favourites are for this event? So much impressive hardware in Pro class, but how do they all compare? From what I can gather, the local boys have still got a bit of work to do to compete with some of the Jap and US entries.

Will the home ground advantage amount to much?

PanSpeed RX7 - go the RWDs!

If they can get the car sorted, I'm going with Mark.

If not, maybe Sierra Sierra...

The Sierra Sierra car is going to be quick.

But I'd absolutely love to see this car win :) ...

Hi All,

Checkout the photos posted today on Superlap.com.au of the Cyber Evo.

According to the Superlap website ...

"While other teams are at the track testing suspension modifications or on the dyno squeezing more horsepower out of their engines, team Cyber Evo have been spending countless hours at Mie university Japan where the aerodynamicists at Voltex have been wind tunnel testing the new aero package.

The aero on a big track like Eastern Creek is sure to play a huge part and with speeds approaching 300km/h at the end of the main straight, this may well be money well spent."

well as ive said all along this event is gay

this just proves it

Hi All,

The video from the recent test day at Eastern Creek with Mark Berry's R34 which we sponsor has been featured on Speedhunters here ...

http://speedhunters.com/archive/2010/03/12...g-for-wtac.aspx

Gee, sounds like somebody's girlfriend left him for an Australian! No reason to attack a car that is effectively a privateer effort being driven by its owner, who happens to be the same guy building it. Hmm, how do i go about posting on Speedhunters :)

Gee Zuz that quote about is a wild rant! I wonder where he got the idea that Berry is somehow cocky of a win? Because I can absolute assure you, he's far from it! In fact, we know we need to find seconds, not tenths, to compete with the fast guys.

Having only just got some form of 4WD in the car it's now a rush to get it programmed correctly, and to get Hollywood's crashed 32 back together for him to fly in and enjoy.

I'd like to smack the quote guy right in the mouth.

One of the comments on that page reads ...

We'll simply let the R34's lap time at World Time Attack do the talking.

The fact that a car that was built by Mark in his shed at home and is driven by the guy who built it is a massive achievement in itself, let alone that it can compete with some of the fastest cars on the planet.

There is an article with more photos from the test day here ...

I for one am absolutely looking forward to the R34 showing the world what aussies can do.

Bring on May 21 !

please do not get me wrong in saying this... i absolutely love this car to bits... and full credit to the mark and everyone whos helped him along the way... with the 4wd sorted out... it will be an animal..

but..

i can see where this guy is coming from... that video should never have been posted, on here, maybe, as we all know the story behind it, but not on the interweb. It does look scrappy, it looks terrible actually. the japs and seppos are probably pissing themselves given that this is the flagship car for aus, and 2 months out from its home event it looks like that, worse than that though, it doesnt look like much has improved from last year's superlap.

and remember folks, that the cyber evo was built in something not much bigger then a single car garage... and by a dentist... it has an estimated power level similar to the GTR... yet from a 2.2L 4cyl which has unbelievable response and acceleration.. the r34 has an 3L.

to say that the hi octane gtr is built by mark himself in his shed at home, that doesnt make it an underdog... average joes building extremely tight budget shitters are the underdogs... this GTR has had more money thrown at it than i can be bothered to count up. that is a simple fact... the bodykit and aero alone cost more than i care to think of.

watching the vids of the other cars... they all have obscence power levels... yet they look calm and composed on the limit.. they can slide them through the corners and power on with precision and control... the video of the R34 at eastern creek looks like its about to whip around and bite.. under brakes, under power, and mid corner..

so in short... we all know what the r34 is capable of.... and we are all in full support of it and hope it knocks em dead...

but based on the video alone.. i cant help but agree with whoever posted that response..

now... so no alcohol... thats fine... no bbqs... thats ok... but can i bring a picnic??

Hey Linton, I'd think you'd be suprised to know how much this car didn't cost. Assumptions are dangerous and your statement re "the bodykit and aero alone cost more than i care to think of." shows you know zero. Nothing. Nada. Zip.

I concurr (as does Mark) that the car is behaving ugly as sin. That's why he works until 2am every night after work on it in his back shed measuring 10 x 6 metres. And at no point has Mark himself claimed he's going to kick anyone's butt, he's a very humble guy, and knows just how quick these overseas cars are. Heck, every time we talk about them his eyes light up like a school kids with amazement.

As for the video "that video should never have been posted", well, that's not up to Mark, thats a sponsor's decision. The sponsors of the event need to summon some interest for the event somehow. Would you have prefered static pictures of Eastern Creek's grandstands?

I'm certain other teams entered and present at the event will not have the same dim witted outlook of Mark's car that this particular Speadhunters drongo does.

    • Already looked at a few prior to getting the MX5, really nice car, had all the mod cons, but I wasn't really sold on the new "look" I did miss my 2017 Limited, and I personally prefer the "look" of the older car over the new model, but, when pondering I kept going back looking at MX5's But it was same same for the new ND's, I wasn't sold on the new "look", especially the RF with its weird roof, which only half goes down, like a targa top sort of thing As I stated before, I did look at NC's, but the cars I looked at were PRHT's, but I didn't like their roof line "look" of the PRHT, until I saw the soft top version, (someone on SAU posted a for sale ad for one with a soft top that caught my attention, you can blame them for my choice.....🤣) and.... that old style detachable hard tops were available for them, which keeps the old MX5 more smoother flowing roof line, and the more rounded body style, similar to the NA-NB, to me, the arse end of the ND looks to "modern" Much like how I prefer the NC1 front bar, over the later models How long will I keep this car for is unknown, but currently, there's nothing else out there that "floats my boat" for a small, fun, little "sports car", that I can play with and enjoy looking at and driving But, who knows what the future holds, and going off current new car styling, if I replace it, it will be a older model something something
    • looking forward to your t56 swap man its a game changer if it works!
    • So, when are you trying the new GR86 or BRZ?
    • Uncle Duncan Yeap, FI Interchiller  Works well, normal IAT's cruising with the WTA only went from 50°c+ to 25-30°c with the interchiller  Before, when on it hard, the IAT would see 80-90°c, now, the highest has been was around 38°c IIRC IAT is measured under the blower hat I recommend it for the street or strip where your only on it hard for 10 or so seconds, but it wouldn't be efficient for sustained track use as it would heat soak from the AC turning off or whatever it does during WOT to protect the compressor It really needs the AC running for it to not heat soak and keep the WTA coolant chilled My WTA coolant temps when just cruising is around 2°c
    • Hey Mark...sorry to interrupt your career change to hair dressing... but...did you ever fit the interchiller to the commodore, and if so how was it? And, who made it?
