Oh hahaha you're that guy!

When you left I said to Doof "who was that?" he said "I don't know, I thought you knew him" then an awkward silence for a sec hahahahaha

yeh... haha.. i do that.. im not a fan of introductions.. its a pointless and awkward excercise, talk shop or get out, i say..... i recognised doof though.. it would have been much more awkward if i had have come over earlier and had nothing to say.. other than "hey... im on SAU"

great to see the cyber evo take the crown... what a monster that thing is... love how low and stiff the japs cars are... they really are the tuning gods.. and its not until you see the best of what we have up against the best that they have that you see that they know their stuff...

evidently their super low cars handle.. and their super stiff coilovers do suit austrailan tracks... who'da thunk it??

good job by russ jr, great times.... you were really pushing it today... needs more loud though.. could barely hear it coming.. and we all know loud cars are the fastest hahaha.

we took off after the second pro session as we didnt want to wait till late in the afternoon.. so didnt get to hang around the sau tent for too long and meet anyone.. we just rocked up and sorta sat there.. so duncan, neil, turismo, shell, etc... that random in the advan jacket running up and down the hill was me!

also... a big thanks to all those involved in organising the event and the visitors... it was well worth it and went off without a hitch from my point of view.. cant wait till this takes off... EC was much better than OP last year..

oh... and the drifting was great... pleeeeease Eastern Creek... let them drift.. they didnt hurt anyone!!!!

cheers

Linton

Jacky Yick in the 200SX did a great job of handing it to the Evo's and GTR's, what a brilliant effort. He is a pro driver though so he does have an advantage!

Wayne Sutton in the 180SX also did a brilliant job. 1:40's in a 180 is amazingly quick.

Overall, it was a great day. Alot to see and do, trade stands, car shows, drifting, motorbike tricks, stunt aeroplane, time attack and a few promo girls!! Hopefully a good advertisement for time attack that grows the sport.

Well done to all involved.

Oh and as much as the guy behind the mic may have been a pain, he was doing his job and keeping the crowd informed of what was happening off and on the track. Better than little to no information...

thats true.. i didnt mind him... he was doing his best with the little information that seemed to be past on to him.... "the drifters will be taking to the track very shortly... oh wait... the drifters are on the track" haha... gold.. as they go flying through turns 3, 4, and 5.

Last i checked GTR and Evo's were running faster than Jacky Yick in clubsprint.

Maybe, not really the point even if the times are wront. That time in a rwd 2L car on streets is AMAZING!

They must of had another session cause as we left he was in second place.

In any case, I think you'll agree he did really well in a Silvia amongst a sea of new 4WD vehicles.

No - he was never in 2nd place, people are just looking at the wrong/last session times, not the aggregate / final results. Good effort nonetheless but evo's and gtr are in front.

So what was everybodies favorite car,,,Mine was the Panspeed Rotary,,,Oh and John Boston's 180 lifting the inside wheel about a foot off the ground through turn 2. Nice work mate!!!.

Neil.

Same that car has always amazed me.

I also liked to watch the white supra coming no to the straight, it must have had a rather large turbo it almost sucked my glasses off my face hehehe.

honestly, if you had just said that, you would have been asked to enter the car and become involved with our antics :P

there's no one friendlier then an SAU member!

I know. A straight pipe is on the cards...

And I just heard all I needed to :) Russ Jr (calling his Russ Jr as I just realised we have two Russ's driving black R32s, so Jr GTSt, Sr GTR :) ) has just pumped out a low 1:47s in his second last session! :P GO you good thing, get that std RB20 with a 2530 and about 220rwkws with off the shelf used Teins from Japan into the 46s!!!!!

Couldn't quite manage a 46. Definitely possible a few more laps but the track went away. Cooled off too much.

Anyway. I did it for you big daddy Troy :D

Bring on next year!!!

I've been inspired for a bigger better setup for open class next year. I love superlap!

Had a great day...met some nice people and sold 5K worth of bits out of my boot in the carpark....had a good laugh with ABM and Daz.

lol at N1GTR...went both days but steered clear of the Nitto stand. Its quite ironic your hero car required a Nitto part after a Jap brand name bit failed to do the job.

A few photos from Friday night, our view from the garage in the final session on Sasturday, and some shots later in the evening on Saturday night ...

This is one of my favourite photos of the event, because it shows the true dedication of Mark Berry's team to get the job done. This photo was taken at 11.24PM on Friday night ...

The engineer for the Cyber Evo came into Mark's pit on Friday night to check out Mark's Aussie built R34 ...

large1962.jpg

He was amazed that Mark was working in the engine bay, made carbon parts for the car himself, and also drives it. When that was translated into Japanese, the engineer for the Cyber Evo said something in Japanese.

The translation in English ? "Superman" :P

The Panspeed RX-7 in the final session on Saturday (I was right up close in Mark's pit as they rolled the Panspeed out). Check out the GPS setup on the dash.

Sierra Sierra during their session.

Think the the Cyber Evo guys were happy about the win ?

The R34 rocking the Aeromotions wing hard.

To see Mark's car go from having the cylinder head off on Friday night to watching Mark pump out his fastest lap of 1:34.10 in his final lap of the whole event to deliver results when it counted was an absolute privilege.

Hats off Mark Berry and his entire crew. You guys worked your butts off and congratulations on a great result.
