wow very impressive times from the international guys, they certainly brought their A games... just from looking at the pics it seems like the real development advantage is all aero (as has already been mentioned)... unfortunately for the aussie teams, aero is big money and only those with big budgets, access to wind tunnels and lots of time for testing are going to prevail... that said well done to the SAU guys, you made them work for it!

that DTM car you posted Roy is out of control! talk about aero, its got about 10 wings bolted on the back!

ps. why whenever I read a motorsport section thread I always get the urge to buy an Aeromtions wing and a Nitto anything..........

Was awesome to see some of the profile Japanese cars in person, and getting up close in the pits it was interesting to see just how much time has obviously been invested in aero. That R Magic RX7 was really trick with modified profile on every surface edge, yet from a distance seemed to look more standard that the other Jap cars.

Will say the early Sunday morning flight hurt like no other ever has :)

Hahahah I was thinking the same thing an hour ago.

Was good fun been in the starters tower, and even more fun watching Marks R34 pull 2 lengths on the Panspeed 7 down the front straight and watching Lofty's 32 smashing the rev limiter for the last 3/4 of the straight.

I'm suprised you made it and didn't choke on your own vomit while lying unconscious in a Sydney alley way with a used condom hanging out of ya butt.

maybe thats why it hurt?? plane seats arent comfortable at the best of times.. haha.

I don't recall much been 4:30 and 6:30 so you could be half right right there WOOOOOOSTAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!... perhaps randomly emerging FB tags will provide answers in the coming days!

Good times :)

Stevo has lately enjoyed putting the slipper into Nitto...I said he should take the oportunity to visit the Nitto stand as Andrew and Jim would have been keen to discuss any issues he may have had/seen with the product line. Steve-o then infoms me he was not attending Superlap...but actually does go on both days and doesn't bother to take the initiative to possibly further his knowledge.

Stevo was there on Thursday and Friday. Not on Saturday.

Funniest 700 early morning voicemail messages I've ever received. LOL

Was a great 2 day, nice to see so many people there hope the event just gets bigger and better.

Meet alot of SAU people in the pits coming to have a look at my car, nice to meet you all :)

I was very happy to get in the 1:49 with full trim and bolt on suspension parts out the box with Kumho KU36's.

And what a drive from Jackie in the 200sx only running 210rwkw with E85, said he borrowed alot of parts of mates to bolt on the car for the event, Must have some very good mates.

That red GTR was one of my favorites of the day, it insired me to have my very similar set up ready for next year!

That blue 180 in opens looked a pretty bloody good set up car too!

That was an amazing car, especially when you consider the mods. This one inspired Anna to finish her SIL80 lol

It was a bit of a pissoff that they didnt have time to do the one lap shoot out.

I would have preferred the drift puppys lose their spot rather than the shoot out.

yeah that was annoying

but all up a great weekend!

i think 2 hours for the drift boys on saturday was a bit much... and they just needed to keep it a freestyle "whatever goes" setup... the battles were a tad boring and inconsitent... aswell as taking up a lot of setup time to get the pairs matched up etc.

was great on friday when the 350z lost its tyre... that was gold... went right back to him.. you couldnt have planned it any better.

The Nitto gaskets do look very good. This is the first engine issue the 34 has had at all, quite an achievment givin the power level and track use the car sees in my opinion.

There was a bunch of us at turn 12 talking about the r34's bad luck esspecially given all it's testing days and other events where it seems to have had zero engine issues.

What can be done though to close the gap to the jap teams for the next superlap?

I was trying to find you, but saw a bunch of guys with sau jackets on, and just spoke to the tallest one thinking it was you!

Sorry mate, come on a cruise one time and I'll be there, or the club agm is next Sunday?!

Or next years superlap hahaha

    • I remembered wrong, but was close though 1Kz setting because those Jaycar SSRs don't go any faster, 1x pump per SSR with flyback diodes & heatsinks. In saying that, the heatsinks are overkill. Just on an alloy plate is more than sufficient. You'll find without a flyback diode, your SSRs will heat up big time and also die prematurely.  I've been running the two same SSRs since the last motor, no issues, car does 2 hour straight drives in summer once in a while and gets punished on the track. Nothing melts, no hot messes, etc.
    • Hmm. You're probably best off working out what the lobe centreline or even the LSA is for the stock cams, with VCT OFF. That's bound to be out there somewhere. Then, work on the assumption that the Kelford centreline is probably the same, and wouldn't be more than a couple of degrees away, if it is different at all. I'm very surprised that you needed to adjust the exhaust cam by 5° to get it on spec. That screams there's another problem somewhere. Anything from the belt being 1 tooth off (how many degrees is one tooth worth?) to simple user/measurement error on the degree wheel. I say this because Kelford, like most quality cam manufacturers these days, does a pretty good job of actually making the cams to spec, not relying on patching it up afterwards like we had to do back in the 80s.
    • Besides packing it, you can also fill your pump through the oil filter inlet port. After cranking for what felt like an eternity without pressure, i fed a tube in through there and filled it with oil. Cranked for a few seconds after that and had pressure.
    • That's exactly what I told myself. I'm happy it came out.
    • My bet is there's a fuse somewhere you blew that feeds power to the ECU. Or you've bumped something out behind the dash board.
