Im not real up with all the turbos available these days, but are there any cheaper garett replacements (roller bearing) that are cheaper then HKS items, maybe some sort of T04?

I know 2530/40's etc are popular replacements, but i dont want to be spending that sort of money as my cars primary goal is a daily driver, any 1/4mile time it runs is just a bonus, but I dont want to be restricted by ceramic turbines

also I would prefer to keep the twin turbo setup, as thats one of the reasons I bought the GTR ;)

Cheers

if you dont want to spend much your better off getting your standard turbo's highflowed or looking out for a set of 2nd hand n1's or high flowed standard turbo's. If you look around you can pick up HKS 2530's for around the 3500-4K mark. For brand new roller bearing garrett's your still looking at around 3500-4K all up depending on where you get them anyways.

a T04 would cost a fair bit more as you'd have to get a manifold, external gate, and all associated piping made up.

Not exactly true. Brent from Nengun quoted me for the HKS 2530 around 295,000Yen which is around $3800 delivered.

The Garrett equivelant~(or closest) is the GT25 /30 which are $1450each from rpm in SA.

about $3000 would be my MAX budget to spend on them, so these sound like a good option, whats the url for rpm?

also im assuming these are a direct bolt on, with internal wastegates yeah?

Hi Brett, I really can't make a turbo suggestion until I know how much power you are targetting?

Hi :D SydneyKid :(,

I'm in the same boat as brett, & after reading the thread Garrett vs HKS, I am now, none the wiser infact probably a little more confused..

Here's why: I thought turbo's were simply rated by there hp, eg: a 2530 320hp~ that can fit specific cars, then 2540 was the next one up etc... but after reading the Garret vs HKS thread you mentioned something about AR ratio's eg: 49, 61, blade dimensions 72, 76, actuators...& how these can change the lag or the way the turbos spool up.

I also have an R33 GTR, I was thinking about my options to achieve a realistic 260-280~rwkw. I am basing this on a number of your posts eg: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=27830

Currently I have,

1. Exhaust - Front pipe 2.5 into 3", standard cat, then 3.5" from the cat back.

2. Turbosmart - Bleed Valve thing-a-ma-bobby @ 1bar~

3. HKS Pods (no CAI or heatsheild box :worship: SydneyKid :worship:
