:( Hi All, hoping someone out there can help with this one.

I have just recently bought an R34 GT-T 4 dr, I have just spent the best part of 3 days fitting new parts and cleaning the engine bay as she was filthy.

I installed new rocker cover seals + 1/2 moons, new iridium plugs, new chrome rocker covers, cleaned all the turbo inlets/outlets/piping etc as they were filthy, put her back together and started up after installing a new battery. On first start I realised I had not put the TBS on correctly and she reved at 3000rpm, wasn't a nice sound after all that work I can tell you

I re-adjusted and now she starts up at 2000rpm, so did some more fine adjustments and once warm idle is at 1100rpm, the car idled at this setting when I purchased it, seems a lot higher than normal. (dumo pipe + highflow cat + 3 - 3 1/2 inch system)

But wait there is more, when I engage the gears through the GB whilst stationary the revs go straight back to 2000rpm, disengage the gearbox out of a gear (any gear) and the idle goes back to 1100rpm?? This only happens when in a gear, with the clutch engaged this does not happen?

I have checked all inlet/outlet vacuum hoses (not sure if incorrectly installed these would do that?), all hoses are new (silicone), it is as if there is some sort of earthing issue now, I have checked that the chasis body earth line is screwed/fixed to the manifod cover (i'm sure that is where it was?)

Also seems like water pump is not working or thermostat, as I installed a new 40mm aluminuim radiator and the bottom hose does not even get warm  and the new radiator, well once at operating tempature you could could cook yer eggs on it!

I have read all posts about IDLE problems, which I definietly have, but this high reving when selecting a gear is just bizzare! Any help or tips would be awesome.

wait a minute how can you engage a gear without using the clutch, or did i misread it?

Try putting the ECU into base idle mode and adjust the idle rpm again and its worth trying brake cleaner/aerostart around the inlet manifold gasket to search for a inlet manifold leak.

Cheers mate, finally worked it out, I could hear a slight hissing from around the intake plenum, plugged a hose really tight and now the ECU has learned all over again after a reset, perfect idle at 900rpm, perfect boost, made 28psi on a run down the gold coast this avo and she cut out, so I now know that all my hard work has paid off, she is now running like a dream, time for a new intercooler, and maybe a top mount bigger 450 turbo
