I own a r33 s2 and between gear changes there is a kind of ignition cut that is meant to take load off the box between changes and in turn make it last longer (so i have read).

I am wondering if like many things on skylines, is there a wire that can be cut in order to remove this and make the changes more direct?

Also if nissan uses this method to extend the life of the box, does this not contradict what people say about shift kits being a good thying for auto boxes and that they actually extend the life of a box?

Does this ignition cut still activate even when you install a shift kit?

this is an easy one to answer. Because Nissan make the change slow, they need an ignition cut to reduce wear on the clutch packs/belts. Its the same on Toyota's.

If you put in a shift kit then the change will be a lot quicker and the ECU will not need to cut ignition for as long.
