JAGR33
i'm out, trying to get through to your brain is more difficult than finding a truthful A Current Affairs report. You live with the dream that nothing can be done to the r35 to make it better. Go tell those tuning shops not to bother, because some guy called Jack said its perfect.... i'm out, you guys bicker amongst yourselves and i'll delete my posts tomorrow because they arnt related to the main thread anymore Dude, no need to get emotional, we are having a constructive discussion. Point out to me where I said the R35 is perfect. All I'm saying is that you have an opinion which is not necessarily correct, didn't mean to hurt your feelings... Friends?? Roy
I vote for less jibber jabber and more 997 pics. Is Porsche thinking about using their PDK in the GT2? I hope not but if they can get the weight down to the point that it is similar to a normal manual...and they turf that silly reverse pattern/direction for shifting and use proper/more common paddles then it could squeeze a bit more performance from the thing.... fungoolie
well you have missed the point even though i cannot make it any clearer. Everything is up high on the R35, the lcd screen, dash, seat possition, bose sound system subs ect.... its not just the roof thats high, the thing is just too high. I know the numbers are in favour of the car as it is. But if the car had some simple design improvements isn't it obvious yet to you that those numbers would be much better?Theres a reason why race cars are low, theres a reason why 4wd's don't corner well, the r35 doesn't have the heaviest roof, but unless it weighs nothing then the position of the car can be improved? Nissan did the whole car right in regards to making it stick as well as a car of its height can do, but all i'm simply saying is if the thing was much lower there would be an even more amazing car. Yes we know those pesky japanese are so dumb when it comes to car design. Why is the GT-R a well designed car? Centre of mass height/wheelbase equal to the best out there. Note the Porsche is not even close: http://www.nagtroc.org/w/images/2/22/Press...-mech-1a_07.jpg http://www.nagtroc.org/w/images/5/51/Press...-mech-1a_05.jpg Downforce as a function of Cd better than anything else out there. http://www.nagtroc.org/w/images/b/b0/Press...-mech-1a_12.jpg And finally scroll down to the dashboard picture and see that the instrument layout was intentionally laid out as it was. http://www.nagtroc.org/wiki/Nissan_GT-R_Press_Kit_-_Package While you're there take a look at the weight distribution graphic. Why have a mid engine and lose the back seat if you can achieve the optimum weight distribution from alternative means? Your "qualitative" assessment of the engineering principles the car was designed around is truly laughable. And I just love your exaggerations, comparing it to corollas and suzukis..... Yes Nissan could have made it lower. But everything is comprimise and lets face it, if you can achieve your design objectives without making it as awkward as an Exige to climb in and out of then more power to you! In my humble opinion Nissan has minimised the comprimise in manufacturing a supercar. Since when is being low an end in itself? Show me another supercar that can fit drivers from 144cm-190cmin height and has 4 seats. You really miss the point of this car. All that being excessively low does is result in a car that can't get up my driveway and scrapes on every spoon drain. Gets tedious after a while. Finally sorry to burst your italo-centric bubble. But your beloved Ferrari's will no longer be available in a manual version. The 458 is only going to be available in flappy paddle. Apparently less than 5% of customers wanted it in manual. Maybe that says more about the drivers of the Fazzas than the manufacturer but based on your perspective that statistic would be casting serious aspersions on the driving ability of the average Ferrari owner. And please will people please stop attributing the Nissan's supernatural performance on electronics and gizmos!! IT IS FASTER AROUND A TRACK WITH VDC OFF as many guys on here who track them will attest to. It's just like the F430/911T/GT2 is and every other german/italian supercar out there. You dont think germans understand electronics? Just because it has a playstation dashboard people seem to think that it has some breakthrough technology built in to it to make it go faster.... They did a GOOD job???? FFS, considering they made a car that goes faster than any of your hero cars for a fraction of the cost and also way more practical, (read not as low and uncomfortable) they did a freakin fantastic job! JAGR33
lol i'm back for a min, then im definately going to bed this time.My opinions not necessarily wrong *still shakes head you can't grasp it* i'm only stopping because there will be no agreement on this topic, and we have hijacked the GT2 thread and i dont think mods will be very happy. So now i'm off, people can read both sides for now, but tomorrow i'm going to take my posts off that arnt relevant to the GT2 thread discussion. and relax we can still be friends, afterall its only the internet, nothing on here is accurate. can we agree that Holdens are a waste of materials???? Yep, don't mess with the mods, especially that R31Nismoid, he's not afraid to use his ban stick!!! Must say that GT2 is special, and for the owner to modify it aswell??? The standard power is not enough???? Kudos to the OP, one damn fine car... PM-R33
Can half of you guys shut the f**k up, my god. This thread is about his GT2, his thoughts on it and the modifications he is doing to it. I am really enjoying this thread so can we please lay off a bit. I would hate for the OP to stop posting because of some of the comments being thrown around. JAGR33
Sorry will not see the track, only the occasional weekend drive. Nothing wrong with that!!!! Can only imagine what this thing would be like at full noise in the higher gears. Any suspension mods on the cards??? MGS996TT
Any suspension mods on the cards??? No suspension mods in the works at the moment on the GT2. But have some new Hybrid Turbo’s in manufacture for the 996TT. UMW in Seattle is finishing them up. After the Akrapovic system is installed on the GT2. Next item on the GT2 list is an uprated pressure plate & clutch…..then possibly Secan intercoolers. Roy
Doesnt the GT2 have the uber magnetic suspension etc? If its anything like some of the other systems i have seen and read about then aftermarket suspension will just make it handle worse???????? Roy
...cheers! Thanks for clarifying. IS there any talk of the PDK box for GT2,now or next model? Interested to know your thoughts as a current GT2 owner whether you would want the next model (or your 997) to run a PDK Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/297083-sorry-guys-went-with-a-gt2/page/10/#findComment-5070048 Share on other sites

All I'm saying is that you have an opinion which is not necessarily correct, didn't mean to hurt your feelings... Yes we know those pesky japanese are so dumb when it comes to car design. While you're there take a look at the weight distribution graphic. FFS, considering they made a car that goes faster than any of your hero cars for a fraction of the cost and also way more practical, (read not as low and uncomfortable) they did a freakin fantastic job! what you've just described there is not a supercar... merely a really fast car really well designed for the masses, speed, power and handling have nothing to do with the overall scheme of things... holden could build a commodore to go fast round a track faster than a ferrari or porsche, doesnt make it a supercar though.. supercars are all about the quirks and perks and sheer ridiculousness of the whole ordeal... thats why they are supercars... they are impractical, obnoxious, unbearable and unique.... with all your links, youve just showed that the r35 gtr requires explanation of what it is and what it does, it needs to show what its capable of to earn respect, it may be quicker on paper and around the ring but a real supercar can command respect without even moving. heck, an american made tank lapped the ring quicker then the gtr nissan have made a real supercar before... this is not one of them and nothing like them.
