A while back i posted a thread asking for feedback on whether i would be able to beat my mates R8 Clubsport, 2000 model with my R33 gtst. Heaps of people replied with the general concessus being that it was going to be a close one.

Well we took them down to Caulder Part on Friday night and i am sad to say he beat me by half a second. We didnt get to run side by side, but we compared times, and his best was 14 flat, with mine being 14.5. The slow times can be put down to 2 things i think, 1: It was our first time drag racing and 2: His car is an Auto.

My car has 3.5" exhaust, POD, Boost controller, 235mm tyres, and is lowered.

His has the Exhaust done, diff ratios changed, and his computer reprogrammed.

So to sum up i just wanted to post the results for anyone who was interested, and give a couple of excuses as to why i bought shame to my fellow skyline drivers. Just thought i should also mention that my best time was on my second run, with low boost (8 psi). All my runst with high boost (11 psi) were slower with stupid amounts of wheelspin.

The Verdict: I recon the cars are wbout the same speed, with the Clubby being slightly faster at top end, but i am shit driver (only been driving manual for 3 months), so thats why he had half a second.

i just drove a modded VX 300KW Clubby, feel a lot of torque in them, but the acceleration isnt what i thought it would be. I.e You can feel the weight.

Then sat back in the line, ahhh felt like i was at home again! MUCH BETTER!

When u drive the clubsport, feels like u r in the car

With the line, feels like u r a part of it

Bah, dont worry too much, practice those launches, and invest in some pineapples- next time he mighn't be so lucky!!!

hey bad luck pooski, the hsv arn't a bad car, same goes for the line. keep tring im sure you can get your car into the 13second (i think you just need alittle practies at racing as this was your 1st time)

would have through the hsv would have been able to pull alittle quicker, hsv r alittle heavy like SKYLINED said so just keep tring and u should be able to match and beat him?

P.s did your friend shift his auto like a man? or did he press the Sport (power) button the holdens have? also it would be nice to know wat diff ratio he went with

The comodore was faster and thats the end of it till you have another go.

I'm sure it was all good fun and you will get better with practice too.

Excuses don't win you any races. However to listen to some skyline owners you would think they certainly believe it does.

:D

Good on you for telling it as it is.

Forget the ETs, you obviously need launching practice (judging by your excessive wheelspin off the line)... The ETs are not indicative of which car is faster.

Post up the terminal speeds of both cars and the 60' footers for us :D

    • Looking for a S2 front grill for an R34 GT/GTT Doesn’t have to be in excellent condition as I’m looking to paint it. Would preferred if the clips were around.    The $500 this marketplace guy is asking sounds ridiculous in my opinion.
    • Nah, just take the other one off too
    • A mini mini-gun.
    • Oh yeah forgot to also mention need to also unplug the IACV as well. Thanks for the reminder @MBS206 Unplugging the TPS takes it out of closed loop so you're able to screw down the IACV without the ECU trying to add/subtract timing to maintain the idle (not sure PowerFC can even do this, but Nistune and the OEM definitely does)
    • For sale is my 1999 Nissan Skyline R34 GT-T, tuned to 234 kW / 313 hp. I've had the car for a few years as my daily driver. The car is original (as far as Skylines go), with only a few minor upgrades to enhance performance and driving experience, as typical for such a car of its age. Overall, it is in great condition with no body rust, thanks to its earlier import date. It features a top-notch security system (not literally, but it's great!) with remote start and still functional 4-wheel steering via HICAS. It comes with several performance and handling upgrades, including:     Hypergear 450HP Turbocharger running 17 PSI boost, installed mid-2021 by Jaustech     550cc injectors     Nistune ECU     Front-Mount Return-Flow Intercooler     X-Force Stainless Steel Exhaust     Upgraded engine mounts     Bottom end bearings replaced     BC Coilovers     Lenso DR1 rims     Bridgestone Potenza Adrenalin RE003 TL 245/40R18 97W tires, fitted early 2023 The interior is mostly stock, with a few additions:     Viper Satellite Tracking System with remote start     Bluetooth Double-Din Touchscreen Head Unit     Steering wheel cover Cons:     A few paint imperfections here and there     Driver’s seat shows more wear than the others. It's not torn at all, but I've added a seat cover to protect its condition. I also have a CarVX Vehicle History report available for serious buyers, so you don’t need to purchase it yourself. Price: $26,000 ONO.
