hey guys i need some help im looking at putting a t51r with a .91rear housing its for a wrx that is now 2.6 ltr. i thought i would come over here and ask the skyline boys as i dont have any experience with these tubos.

the current engine set up is

wet sleeved 2.6ltr block

mahle pistons

par 1500hp rods

acl race bearings

2.5 crank

o-ringed block and heads

copper head gaskets

14mm headstuds

ported heads

brian crower springs

wade 300deg cams

indy blue injectors

2x044 pumps

half inch fuel lines

ect list goes on

fuel - e85

the curent turbo i have is a gt35/66r it has 66mm front wheel, .80 front cover and a 1.06 rear housing and this turbo is to small and is on full boost just after 4000rpm but the the turbo has now spun the blade on the sharft and stuffed the front blade bent the sharft and stuffed the front bearing in it. and its going to cost 1200 to fix it, the turbo has now even done 200kms

so i was looking at a garrett t51r with a .91 rear housing do you guys think this will be to laggy on my set up ? im not to worred if it is abit because im running a nitrous kit as well

and i forgot to mention it has a built auto in it now with a 4,200 stall coverter

your help would be appreciated alot.

From the research etc. that we have done and advice given by people in the industry, the 0.91 rear will be laggier than the 1.01 or 1.05 rear due to it's TV (T6) flange which causes a huge pressure drop before entering the turbine. You are better off with the 1.01 rear that has a T4 flange. Considering there are none available or none have been sold in Australia, your options would be to buy it from the states or get the TA (1.05 A/R) rear milled to the T4 bolt pattern as they are only a mm or so different in their bolt pattern.

I would expect to see 1 bar of boost on the 1.01 rear at approx 5000rpm on a built EJ @ 2.6L.

And where did you get a GT3566R? Never heard of or seen one. I think you are probably referring to a GT3582R. Garrett don't make a compressor with an exducer of 66mm. that would be almost like taking the compressor off the GT3582 and putting one on from a GT2871....but smaller

thanks for your help the t51r i was going to buy from turbologic he said it was a t4 flage witht he .91 rear so im not sure, the 66r i have was custom built by gcg it uses the same shafts and rear blade as the 35r but the front wheel is 66mm and has a .80 front cover with a 1.06 t3 rear housing

when looking for turbos it gets compacated the guy said he can only get the t51r in a .91 and a 1.05 rear housing with a t4 flange

No, the GT51R comes in a 0.91 T6 (TV Flange) 1.01 T4 or 1.05 TA Flange. It also comes in others but not sure on those. I could find out if you really wanted the info on the bigger sizes.

The GCG turbo you are talking about is probably a T04Z compressor on the GT35R core. Very inefficient.

And Garrett would call it a GT3584R because it's the exducer that determines the last two digits. GCG like to be backwards.

yeah they recon it was a to4z equverlent but it was really inerficent like you said, the turbo it a complete pieace of shit in my opinion.

what other turbos would you recomend for me as soming that might get decent boost around 4,800-5000.

i was also looking at the turbonetics gtk1000 it has a 76front blade 68rear blade with a .96 t4 rear housing

How much hp are you chasing is probably the more appropriate question?

If you want 600-700hp at the wheels then pick a GT3788 or GT4088. You should see 1 bar at 3800-4000 on the 37 and about 4200-4500 on the 40. If you want 700-800hp then you will need minimum GT42 or above. Things start to get complicated after that and a lot of questions need to be asked.

the auto draged about 50kw off at the wheels but i want about 400kw@wheels with the auto, and need somthing effecent enough to run 35psi

then will put a 150hp shot of nitrous ontop of that so there is a big chance it could go 500kw

we made 411rwkw with a cheap GT40 (v band rear 1.0) ($1300) through an auto on a1jz (2.5litre) at 22psi.
