Hey Guys,

I fitted a new water pump to my VN ute yesterday, and when bolting in the last DA** bolt, it snapped. I quickly took out the other bolts and removed the water pump hoping the bolt was still slightly sticking out so I could remove it, but it wasnt. It was about 2mm inside the block. ;)

So I thought I'd forget about it, apply the permatex sealant back on and re fit the 7 remaining bolts.

Now, my issue is its been playing on my mind and bugging me knowing its like that. Should i be worried about it and consider having that bolt somehow removed or not?

If i have the right tool to take the bolt out, will i need to remove the water pump again or can i just go through the entrance of the water pump and pull it out of the block. (I dont know what the bolt remover tool look like exactly so im not sure if i can do it this way)

Appreciate your advice.

You should be able to use an "easy out". It looks like a reverse threaded tap with a tapered end.

All you need to do is drill a hole in the centre of the broken bolt and then turn the easy out in the hole and the bolt should back out.

And yes, you should be able to do this with the water pump in situ. It all depends on how much room you have to play with though.
