To be honest we do a few xr6's and by far the most fun car ive driven lately was a mildly modded F6 FG, flashed, exhaust boost etc was quick, left nice black lines evrywhere and handled great.

F6 FG will be my next new car purchase http://www.fpv.com.au/fpv-range/f6/overview.aspx i had a V8 gtp to test for awhile but the 8 was bit like our rb26'd S13 without the power... nose heavy.

The F6 has nice balance, nice interior and compared to a BA xr6 (i could not own a BA) its hard to believe they came from the same assy line.

I thought 2jz and rb30/26's used to be pretty crazy but 4liter turbo (may i repost FOUR LITRES) with a host of mild upgrades eats far heavier modified rb's and 2j's for torque and power.

But at the end of the day its in a ford! Im not being a bias fanboy douche, They have the capability to make crazy power but the general construction is really not that great especially the interior everything stops working and then works again for no reason. I had a brand new xr6t 09 as a work car and it was mine from the get go no on else drove it, it was comfortable, stock power was ok, but everything else was turd for a new car it did not impress me.

If you want a drag car they would be perfect

Interesting, what excatly went wrong i drove the gtp (even @ phillip island) and both my cousins have FG's now they are evaluating for ford.... no issues on either. Mind you both are FPV cars not the base xr6 bucket. In fact both cars lap pretty quickly too the F6 kills your average gtst skylines and even EVO X round phillip island, been to a few motor review days down there so seen first hand.

Dead stock F6 1:53.80 versus EVO X 1:55:10 (same driver, same day) :) So much for a drag car.

Oh dont get me wrong im not a ford fan boy (shed is full of nissan and chev), i just reckon that credit is due.

i have to agree with trent on this one.... while i wouldn't buy one the new f6t's are a much nicer car than previous models / other similarly priced options and are very easy to extract power from.

Having owned a xr6 turbo i just think they are a big heavy lump yeah loads of potential but they dont have that look about em...

Ie even when its parked up it doesnt looks fast unlike a skyline that does...

Don't stress mate, im only 18, had me liner for nearly a year, and i went threw a stage were i hated* it (* didnt hate it just didnt wanna drive it or anyhting). I just put it in the shed, car cover and didnt look at it for a week, then before i new it, fortnight had passed, nice sunday afternoon, perfect weather, whipped it out and fell in love with it all over again. :P

I think alot of people go through that stage were they wanna do something or they arent happy with something and thats why they dont wanna drive their car, i was unhappy with a few things on it, but as soon as i changed them its never been better.

Chin up dude, just dont go gettin all dramatic n sell it, cause yeah wont git diddly squat, just get a bigger shed ;D

Thanks for the reply fellas. I think I feel its slower because it is, started misfiring today and smelling fuely, I think something might be up with the tune. I cleaned the spark plugs but its still doing it.

Forget I ever posted this thread, I could never part with my baby, we've been through thick and thin together (although sometimes I feel like rolling the bitch off a cliff).

Cheers fellas.

good. Saves me driving up there and slapping you.

I sold my 1600. I miss it. 32 is good, and will only get better, but i had a massive attachment to my 1600.

mine is doing the exact same thing... i'm into status for a retune on the 2nd...

i think its cause we tuned it in the night in the middle of winter.

the car is running quite rich and fouls the plugs when its cruising, but they clean up after it gets boosted....

check my thread for results next week

    • I suppose that's true. Barring almost any situation, I'll never sell so what the market does is kind of irrelevant to me. It's possible I'd make most of my money back. That spreadsheet I mentioned? Maybe I could make back more than what the car's total costs thus far are, but the parts and all that is possibly a different story... Thanks for reading. It was certainly a good moment and just makes the ties to the car that much stronger. It's exciting that the option will be there to bring it over, however I have some plans with a shop that may end up keeping the car there longer, not sure. Coupled with the fact I want to move there and haven't solidified any path yet. So in a way, it feels like I'm in a limbo state that is uncertain; time will tell.
    • No worries, everything worked out in the end. I just wanted to make the point that it doesn't matter where it comes from (I.E Australia), it can be broken or improperly built. I would still purchase from these companies in the future. B2R - Not certain how that finished, this was on a car I wired a few things and street tuned. I know the owner ended up shipping the motor back to Australia for investigation. Hopefully some of it is covered under warranty.  Turbosmart - I always pressure test everything that goes on my car. It's a habit from my career in oil and gas. I run two 40mm's and both had major leaks from the actuator to exhaust portion through the shaft. I returned both, they shipped me back two and one was leaking and the other had a 38mm top (40mm gate with 38mm actuator cap, no idea how that happens). Eventually after a lot of back and forth I found myself with two non-leaking gates. I believe this happens a lot more then people would like to believe but you would never know if you don't pressure test them prior to installation. Crank Motorsport - Issued a full refund and let me keep the seat rails. I turned them into scrap metal for other projects. GKTech - Shipped me out a replacement and asked that I modify it as per my idea and that they would do the same for a future revision. ATP - Can just needed a large shim to bolt up properly.  Haltech - They started an actual proper Beta channel for firmware's a few months back and stopped using the general public for testing. I'm now much happier.  Speedtek - f**k Speedtek. I would love to watch them burn.
    • I've got a Turbosmart wastegate, ATP catch can, many GK Tech parts and Haltech everything. Everything's been perfect, sorry to hear your experience wasn't the same
    • The only high-power RB I've personally seen go pop after running for all of an hour on a dyno was built by B2R, while being remotely tuned by B2R. The only wastegates I've ever had leak like a sieve, return, still leak, return and get shipped back the wrong ones were from Turbosmart. The only final drive that I've ever purchased that were unusable, twice... were from Speedtek. The only seat mounts that I've ever purchased that placed the seats in the door frame were from Crank Motorsport. The only poorly designed parts that I had the manufacturer confirm should have been designed as per what I mentioned were from GKTech. The only ECU I've had firmware updates consistently break things are Haltech. The only catch can I've purchased that didn't fit in its advertised spot was from ATP. So forth and so on... Moral of the story, doesn't matter where it's from. Do your research beforehand and stick with products and companies you've trusted in the past.    @joshuaho96 If you want it done right, do it yourself.
