Lagging ?

Hey guys,

Well im not so good on the technical aspects of cars so was wondering if you guys could help me with my problem. My car (R33 gtst s1) is starting to react slowly. Flooring it from 1st and 2nd its fine. But when I cruise in gear and then floor it it lags. Its reading full boost but it gets like a second push after abit of lag. Is it my clutch ?

Could be clutch (very likely), but could also just be general maintenence issue like spark plugs, crap built up in pipes etc...

Could also just be the 'flat spot' in the rb25's around 4500 rpm then it'll kick back in around 6000ish.

Or could just be operator error!

Operator error hehe its daily driven and it just started happening today.

if the clutch is slipping then the revs should rise but not your speed.

what sort of revs are you getting the lag at? is it always at a certain rpm or can it do it at any rpm? the r33's have a bit of a flat spot at 4500rpm when the VCT turns off. otherwise it could be your plugs or coils not coping that well with the sudden increase in fuel.

What gear are you cruising in?

4th / 5th?

Yeah you can floor it on 4th / 5th while cruising, but it won't be as effective as to down shift to a lower gear, like 3rd (power gear)...

Thanks for the responses guys really appreciate it. When I floor it in 4th gear the revs rise and the boost is on max but say around 4000-5000 it goes harder like it is given an extra push

that is because of 2 reasons. 1: you make more power the higher the revs, and 2: the VCT shuts off at that sort of rev range and there is often a flat spot just before it does.
