Why would they make you destroy something that you have paid for?

Just because it needs to be complied as stock, doesn't give them the right to destroy your legal property, I would imagine.

Sounds moore like dodgy compliance yards trying to keep an exhaust system for free to me.

Under the new rules cars or to go straight from the docks to compliance in a standard stock form

If they are fitted with aftermarket parts of any form they are to be removed destroyed and proof shown that has been done and stock parts refitted.

That's why you are better buying a stock car and not having that new HKS2835 pro S turbo get removed and destroyed. that would really suck.

I stand corrected.

Wow that isn't very fair.

Lucky JL Newton has found a decent complier.

Hmmm makes me think a bit more seriously about what I will buy when I import a GTR later on, next year.

Yeah, you cannot bring in anything modified anymore, but try and find a GTR in Japan that doesn't have a cat-back exhaust, almost impossible, especially considering age would be starting to catch up with factory exhaust systems. And who would replace it with a standard exhaust. Another part of the compliance is brakes have to be completely rebuilt using factory Nissan gear which comes in at around $2k, I could have used that money for slotted rotters and endless pads, and it would stop a hell of a lot better than standard Nissan stuff. Anyways, thats the rules!

Yeah, I just don't want to remove too much stuff, it seems hard enough to get interest in the GTST as it is, let alone with all the good stuff taken off. Luckily for the me the camber kits are are the same between the GTST and GTR, just need the adj. caster rod and sway bars, and I already have a nice set of fully adj, Apexi T-max coilovers sitting in my lounge room floor. Suspension is done!

congrats - sounds like a nice car - wats ur old r33 goin for?

Thanks mate, not really sure what $s to put on the GTST yet, there is such a wide range of prices out their??? It won't be up for sale until probably late Feb, I am thinking somewhere between $16k and $19k. If it goes as low as $16k I will be taking all the good bits off and selling them. There are a few guys here interested in some bits for their track exploits. (Cusco F & R strut braces, DBA slotted clubspec rotors, Cusco radius rod, bilstein shocks, O2 Rush pod and UAS Cold Air Box, etc)

cant you import it without brakes, and get it complied witht eh better brakes here?

Nah, has to be complied here with genuine new nissan bits for the brakes, amongst other things, they are very tough now. The new rules basically try and get the cars as close to new/showroom condition as possible considering age. Everything must be stock, and I mean everything. Can't be all bad I suppose.

Still, I am sure the original Brembo/Nissan combination can't be that bad!

its crappy about the stock as a rock thing.. but they know full-well the parts would just go back on, or onto the market if they did.

Nice car.. don't think i have seen a white 33 GTR up here yet, then again i have only been here about 3 weeks :P

    • I believe Unimog is the only vehicle that has it (from the manufacturer). I haven't seen aftermarket permanently connected kits, but I haven't looked either.
    • Ha ha ha, can't overthink when exhausted... Oh how I wish I had that power! I can be absolutely dead set shot, and my brain will still go "we need a good 3 or 4 hours to just think about everything and anything before you may sleep... My biggest thing is making sure I give myself enough sleep. I don't operate on even 7 hours of sleep! I attempt to give my body 9.5hours sleep a night to be able to function. I don't sleep the whole 9.5, but I need to make sure I offer a big window. I also take a single supplement, which is to help with long term health, and fighting inflammation, and I notice it helps massively. Especially me sleeping, and just less "achey" in the body. Have also kicked sugar, and gluten. A majority of people with ADHD don't go well with gluten. It causes a really interesting natural opioid overdose in the brain, which causes bodily issues and sensory issues.
    • Yeah that's what I meant, permanently connected not manual
    • Yep. But typically that's just run a hose down to the tyre while stationary.   Oh and the Unimog will automatically air up and air down tyres from the onboard computer for you too.
    • There was a good video somewhere, maybe Kurzgesagt that linked physical activity to ADHD/Anxiety/Insomnia etc. Basically the body WILL spend energy doing something if you don't spend it doing anything physical. It isn't fun, but I personally have noticed I've never been overthinky, or unable to sleep if I'm physically exhausted from doing a lot. The musings around it seem to indicate that this is one of the reasons/mechanism that physical activity improves mental health/wellbeing etc, by more or less not using that 'extra' energy to overthink, be anxious, inflammation, etc. There's also the fact that every obnoxious exerciser ever says it's great and helps which is extremely annoying. Like people who say the same thing about travel being the best thing ever. I mean, they clearly are, but blah. I started doing a LITTLE myself (think 3x15min per week) and honestly did notice the benefits, aiming at life quality when older. Which is sooner than you think. Getting something into your routine that you can actually make a routine has helped me at least. This post brought to you by procrastination between sets.
