Cleaning Roof Rails

As title states my roof rails have a mold like growth on them, I am sure others would have something similar, anyone work out what the best method of getting it off is??? it will scratch off with your finger nail so something abrasive may be good.

Anyway thanks for any advise in advance.

elbow grease and a chucks cloth, the only thing abbresive you should use is a toothbrush

once it is clean and dry, wipe it down with a rag sprayed with a bit of silicone spray to restore the colour and shine

anything abrasive will leave scratches which will attract more mould in the future and look like arse

i Use Mothers black plastic on mine, Its basically a Plastics polish, rejuvinates colour and shine. lol sounds like a shampoo comercial. But its good. put it on and buff it off. i use it around the side mirrors too. I too have little spots on mine, but the polish reduces the appearance.U can get it at any Autobarn or supacheap.

Last month, I was waxing mine I got abit on the racks so I figured Id give it a go.

Looks brand new! Still glossy black now...

Yeah will try the mothers option if that doesnt work will get the tooth brush out and give it a spin.

i normally give the rails a going over with an armour-all cloth once ive washed and polished my car,as well as the black door and bumper mouldings.works for me
