So it seems Nissan redesigned the whole ECU then?

yeah r34 was new generation plug (double the pins) The 34 one is far superior.

Also the Neo R34 uses a continuosly variable cam phasing, the R33 uses on or off cam phasing. Even if you painstakingly swapped connectors, it wouldnt run the engine correctly. The Neo head is also more advanced so the timing curve wouldnt work from the R33. Check this out, top is 33 bottom is 34.

Thank your for the information I was always wondering how the VVT works and what the differences are to the NEO.

So my the (R33) uses on/off timing changes.

Is it basically induced by a signal coming from the ECU (for the R33)?

And Do you know what exactly happens on the mechanical side then?
