how does one tell if their ball joints aren't in good shape? the boots on mine are pretty shagged from an external look at them

also is it possible to get them new be it aftermarket or whatever, apart form nissan. i swear i've seen them offered on a website somewhere at some stage but for the life of me can't find it again

Thanks

jack the front wheels off the ground... with a long bar... like a shovel handle, or jack handle.. put it under the wheel and lever the wheel up as it would if the suspension was moving.. if the ball joint is flogged out, there will be some movement when you lift the wheel up, before it starts to move the suspension.
