How long is a piece of string unfortunately. ive heard of and seen $1000 dollar paint jobs through to $10000 paint jobs. Things in your favour: 1: New car so your current paint is a smooth base to lay new primer and paint over(hopefully) 2: Sounds like you want a single colour and without any candy or other expense adding extras.

You can save yourself money if you want to put in the effort of prepping the car for paint yourself, but in the end you get what you pay for in the finish. I would say ball park a couple of grand but hopefully people can shed some more light for you.

How much do paint jobs usually cost?

looking to get my white v35 changed to obisidian black

also comes down to how detailed you want it.. around inside of doors, etc.. lots of prep work.. best bet is go ask a few car sprayers.. also check their finished work before you go with them so you know what their quality is like

you always get what you pay for

Piece of string is best judgement haha

Depends on:

Quality of current paint

Whether you can do the prep work yourself

When it comes to painting do you just want the:

Exterior done

Exterior + Door jams

Exterior + Door jams + Boot + Engine Bay

Not sure what state you are based in, but places like Xxx Bodykits do full colour changes for $1900, average for exterior and door jams your looking around say $3000, then you can head into higher range quality paints as well like I'm getting DNA Paint so thats around 10,000 for exterior and door jams.

As craig and sean said, they can really vary depending on quality and how much you want painted.

I was looking to respray a clean r34 from white to black about a month ago.

If I was to strip the car and give them a shell, it would be 4-6k,

To let them strip the car I would expect to allow a further 1-2k.

These prices were from from DMD the Image (Brisbane).

I have seen their work and was quite pleased with it.

Obviously this is only my research, some people have had a car respray for a few hundred $$ + a carton of beer.

Cheers

how long is a peice of string.. seriously i can just pick a figure outta my head.. or you can go to a paint & panel and ask for a rough figure.. or call them.. not hard

just seeing if somebody has done it before and how much it costs, fair enough if you dont know, just dont reply with "how long is a piece of string" lol

Well actually matte black has become very popular over the last couple of years, so due to popularity its gone up in price so once again it can vary on the supplier.

My mate did it herself block back the car and used cans and it came out looking wicked...so you can give that a try and it'll be under $1000 haha :D

But professionally budget 5-6k

hey man if you want a paint job pm me and ill send you to my mate at 2sus if you want same colour it would prob cost you from 2 to 2500 and colour change without engine bay between 3500-5 have a look at some of his work he painted my last car and came out beautiful and im a fussy person

If you're referring to xxx bodykits in Melbourne... they start resprays at $1999, and they charge extra for colour change (doorjams etc).

But apparently they're work sux (looks like spray-can jobs). Or so I've heard from alot of their former customers.

If you want a respray...I'm guessing you want it to look good right? So if you're looking for something cheap, you might aswell get some VHT cans and do it yourself....coz it'll come out cr@p either way, but you'll save some money.

For a basic colour change, you're looking at $3000-$3500 minimum from a decent place. Pearls will cost you a few hundred extra atleast...Candy will set you back heaps because most spray-painters think they are a headache (ie. if they stuff up...it's much harder to fix it since the paint is translucent). I don't know what the heck obsidian black is....but you need to spend atleast $3000-3500, don't mess up your 35.
