Hi everyone,

I am thinking of rebuilding my r32gtr engine and am contemplating buying a used r33 GTR crank and used eagle rods (I am told these parts are in good order).

If I do use these what should I do before they go in the engine?

Crank - Inspected and Balanced & linished, anything else? Should it be cross drilled or is this not neccessary?

Conrods - Inspected, anything else?

Is it easy enough to check for cracks etc? Should I have these components cryo treated?

When the Crank is balanced & linished is then when it is measured up to confirm bearing size?

Any idea of typical prices for this type of work?

Sorry for all the questions but any guidence would be much appreciated.

Regards,

Thanks guys, sounds like new crank is the way to go. Would a new crank still need to be balanced or can it go straight in?

Also anyone have any thoghts on used h beam eagle rods? I think they have done around 20k.

Since nobody has asked the question yet, what sort of money were you looking at paying for the used crank and rods?

As has been said, a brand new BCNR33 crank can be had for ~$1100, and you can pickup Eagle Rods for ~$700

I wouldn't risk used parts for a rebuild in my car, period.

spen $50 getting the lot checked before commiting... easy solution. I am yet to find a decent GTR crank 2nd hand. Generally a reason the engie is apart. RB26's have a bad habit of cracking and bending with even a basic spun bearing.

The parts were only around $500 for the lot, thats why I was initially thinking about it, however now I am intent on buying a new crank.

As for the rods I would still imiagine that there would be some wear around the contact surface's with the crank and gudgeon pins.

Glad I asked the question, as I will stick to new parts. Thanks again everyone.
