hi all,

I recently removed my park lights and put indicators where they were instead. The only problem now is the old indicators in the front bar where 21 watt each, whereas the new ones are 10 watt each. I know that if there is a current drop, or gain they flash fash, but how would i go about fixing this, can i use some sort of resistor. Anyone have any ideas?

cheers

Kris

The best solution is to replace the bulbs with the same wattage type.

If they won't fit or you cbf, these formulas might help:

Voltage = Current / Resistance (V=I/R)

Power = Voltage * Current (P=V*I)

Erm, I'm too lazy to work out what resistor size you'll need but it should be easy enough to work out.

Assuming they're running on 14V, you need an extra 0.68Amps per globe. So that corresponds to whackin a ~18ohm resistor in parallel with each globe. That is, if my brain is functioning properly. Take note though, at that kind of current it's gonna have 11watts in heat to dissipate, so you'll need a big mother of a resistor or have a few smaller ones in parallel, else it'll just burn out pretty quickly.
