Does anyone know what causes a continual clicking from passenger side of dash on C34 Stagea? I had a similar noise on my R33. Also, if I fit a boost controller to this motor, being a series 2 with Neo RB25 DET, whats a safe boost level?

There is a couple of relays down there. next to the ECU. But you only hear them before you start the car.

I have a ticking sound when I take off, but i think from some reading it was the AWD system doing its thing. i think?

Safe boost is about 10 should keep the turbo from crapping out.

If its always ticking does it sound mechanical or electronic? Get a passenger to have a listen while you drive to see exactly where it's coming from.

Hugh.

Could be the climate control fan - does it stop when you turn climate control off? Mine had leaves in it. The ATTESA relay clicks like a bar-stud too but that is driver's side, approximately directly behind the steering wheel (lift the bonnet - it is the big brown one in the corner. Should be able to feel it clicking at idle, and observe flickering headlights/loss of power when it does).

Does it sound like its coming from behing the airbag?

If it does it could be the little motor that moves the flap that switches the climate controll blower between fresh/recirculate. Ours did it and it ended up breaking a bit of the mechanism and the motoer kept turning and clicking against the broken bit. Try playing with the fresh/recirc buttons on the climate controll, that used to make ours stop for a bit.

If you take the glove box out, and the plastic cover behond it (from memory) you should be able to see the little motor next to the fresh/recirc flap (flap looks like a big flat white air filter).

If this is the problem, a motor out of an r32 fits in, you just have to change the little plastic arm on it for the one off your stagea one.

This fixed ours for a few months, untill it started doing it again wich makes me think it has a short in the climate controll unit.

Ended up just unplugging the motor. The climate controll is now permenantly on recirculate, but problem solved!

Had this exact problem. First had one on my drives side for the control arm for the centre vent. Could not open properly. This was fixed...believe it or not... by replugging in the aircon unit. Obviously it had been tamperd with and was not put back together properly. Ie, That rubber surround that sits on the tiptronic 'cover'. wasnt in properly. Nor was the plug for the steering wheel controls. I imagine somebody at the docks had a go at stealing my headunit that came from japan untill they relised just how much effort was goin to be involved.

I have since had the issue happen again for when i want it to be on my 'head' area only. It eventully clicks into place if i leave it running for ten minutes or so, or switch it around. ie flick through the modes.

I also experianced the clicking issue behind the passegners airbag. Had me baffled and had pracitcally the enitre side of the dash out, as it would click when aircon was turned off, was on 'fresh' air but not on recycle. Eventually managed to find the problem and put it back on its moving rails. It had slipped out cuase the bit at the end of the rail had broken thus preventing the vent from closing at a certian limit and it had extended beyond this. Put it back in and has not happend since....2 months or so.

Hope any of that dribble helps a little bit.

Thanks for all your input guys. Turns out it was the intake motor behind glovebox. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement in SE Melbourne? Also wondering when it was mentioned that a new one flogged out quickly due to a possible failing climate control unit as when I turn air con on it doesnt even turn compressor on.
