Sam M
Hi guys, I did a search through the EPA threads but did not find the info i was looking for - yes it may well be in there but i dont have time right now to read through every page (specific searches had no luck too). I just wanted to know, how far away the microphone is when they test the 'loudness' of your exhaust. Because i downloaded this cool decibel app on my iphone, and yeah when i fired my car up it peaked to 96fb ..(illegal obviously), but that was with the phone about a foot away from the exhaust, and it then stayed pretty flat at 92db. Upon moving to about 2 metres away it was sitting at around 88db which is legal. Revving it obviously made it high again, but yeah, just wondering the distance of the mic for the test?
