Help For Decision On Coilpacks

Hey guys

I need to buy some new coilpacks soon but as people know there is a difference between the coilpacks for a Series 1 R33 and a Series 2. Now looking at my engine in the photo attached and other people's Series 1 engines, shouldn't there be a largish ignitor type pack where the red circle is. Where as it looks like I have this plug which I have seen on Series 2 engines.

So as you can see I'm a little confused (that or im just a noob and missing something). The car is a Series 1 1994 model.

Any help will be appreciated

Cheers

you'll require series 2 coilpacks than, why are you replacing them tho? are they missing? if there is nothign wrong with them, dont waste your money on replacing them as the stock ones are by far the best out there when they are in good condition, the only ones that come close to a decent set of stockers are splitfires.

Ye they are missing pretty bad are high rpm and load. Put my mates good ones in there and no problem. Yep am going to buy the splitfires.

Im just curious why would someone replace the ignition system on the car to using series 2 coilpacks? Any advantages with having the ignitors inbuilt?

Ye the series 1.5 started in late 95 I think but mine is registered as 94, plus I don't have ABS which I know Series 2 had. Other than that I don't know how else to distinguish a series 2 engine....

Now Im wondering if you change the coilpacks to series 2, would they have to change the rest of the ignition components or can you easily convert from series 1 coilpacks to series 2 ones?

I should mention before I sound stupid that my mates one I tried is from his Series 1 R33 which has the same plug at the back of the engine as mine, that's why I wasn't sure if both of us have series 2 coilpacks so ye
