Big X
So I bought myself a Haltech platinum pro plugin ECU for my car (R33 GTST s1) This is the first aftermarket ECU iv'e ever put on any car ever, and I tried installing it myself, and just to get it running well enough to drive it to the tuner's to get a full proper tune up done (trent @ status i hope ur reading this). So i plug the ecu in, upload the RB25 base map that came with the software and I encountered these 2 problems. 1: The f**ker wont start, with the stock ecu its fine, but with the haltech it just cranks and cranks but wont start. 2: The readings are wrong, with the throttle completely closed the gauge in the software says 53.7% throttle, shouldn't it say 0?? Is there something I'm missing here, because I thought the term plug n play meant exactly that. I wasn't expecting it to run perfectly since it's only a base map, but it should start right?? Is there something aftermarket ecu's don't do that factory ones do eg. fuel pump relay?? Or should I just concede that this is all over my head and hand it off to trent who could probably fix it easily (just trying to save you time and me money here mate) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/298734-plugin-ecu-problem/ Share on other sites
SECURITY
with most aftermerket ecu's you'll always have to do some calibrations. i.e. throttle, timing, map sensor (if you have one), injector size, etc etc bla bla. read into it. STATUS
Nice ecu choice BTW, nice things the new platinum's. Sorry but ive been out tonight. email me your base map and i will have a look at it for you, it may need the outputs programmed (does the fuel pump prime etc? ) Edited December 2, 2009 by URAS Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/298734-plugin-ecu-problem/#findComment-4968077 Share on other sites
Moodles2
2: The readings are wrong, with the throttle completely closed the gauge in the software says 53.7% throttle, shouldn't it say 0?? TPS aka throttle position sensor needs to be calibrated, every car is different. With no throttle Nissan TPS' register around the 0.5v mark (im guessing yours is 0.537v, mine is 0.46v) when off throttle and anywhere from 3-5v volts (mines 3.7v or 4.7v ive forgotten) with wide open throttle. Big X
it shows 2.5v at 0 throttle and the same at wide open throttle?? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/298734-plugin-ecu-problem/#findComment-4972982 Share on other sites
JonnoHR31
calibrate it. 0 throttle should be .4-.5v Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/298734-plugin-ecu-problem/#findComment-4973037 Share on other sites

Big X
may take u up on that offer trent, but I will put do the exhaust and fuel pump first save making 2 trips. Im starting to think the haltech map isn't the problem. The previous owner of this car appears to have made an absolute abortion of the wiring loom. Just check out the connection on the TPS, this doesn't look normal to me.
