whats the speeding tollerance up here?

Hmm, general question I guess... Is it 10% tolerance up here for speeding if a camera gets you? (so 120km/hr in a 110km/hr zone you won't get booked) Or will a camera get you if you're doing 111km/hr or whatever? I know it used to be in VIC (which i think is fine for safety and the like) but Lovely Bracks turned around and made it 3km/hr over (e.g. you do 63km/hr in a 60zone you get done) which you can't even see on your speedo.

Like on the Pacific Motorway, with everybody going about 120km/hr a lot of the way, and you see the cameras but nobody seems to bother slowing down (stick out like dogs balls btw, you guys should feel lucky you don't live in the VIC police state!).

Not that I'm worried, just curious for future reference..

I've always used the 10% rule up here predator...

The other trick is to don't do more than 15ks over the limit as thats when it starts to get profitable for the police. With the new speeding laws though, this may not be true anymore...

umm i always thought it was until the point that they can't read ur number plates at speed. and then u have to choose to stop or jump on it.

Oh and yeah i believe the coppas generally give you a 10% margin. Here i am driving to work everyday on 66km/h. God damn my speedo better not be out.

i do ard 110 during the 100 zone and 120 during the 110 zone and still, there are cars zipping pass me. i guess that the 10% above is the tolerance but i could be wrong though.

Yeah i usally go for the 10% should be good rule of thumb. I think its a bit of a crunt act for you to get booked for doing 3k over in a 60 zone.

I thought it was 8 kms over the limit, thats what i've been sticking too since moving from VIC, and its served me fine so far (18 months).

Coming from 3kms over the limit too 8kms/10% is like a new lease of life!

hehe, plenty of times! but i'm getting used to it. Still getting used to those wacky one way streets up here. Otherwise I'm loving it! **** melbourne For the first time in a long time, I can feel *relaxed* driving around, not looking for speed cameras on every corner - and everybody seems to be going 10km/hr over the limit (which is fine from a safety perspective if you ask me).

Living in Brisbane at the moment, after a couple of weeks in the Gold Coast - i'll be back down there a fair bit i think though, coz i have a good mate down there.

Would like to come to a cruise or event and get to meet you guys, but unfortunately until i find a job, gotta lay low for a bit and save the moula

ahh pity the ppls in vic are really outgoing and vic has a good lifescene. pity about the crabby gotv. there. i used to holiday twice a year in melb"driving" i no longer go there since i got done for 53 in a 50 zone in a minibus. now i head to north qlds where the police are still decent and not road nazi like some other places. a BTW i have been warn by police for doing 120+ and no ticket in FNQ!!

We were driving down "Government Road" in Labrador the other day and got flashed by one of those stupid grey Hilux's.

81 in the 60 zone, $250 and 4 points.

Even though it's a rip off, you own the plates outright when you get them. Only the prestige plates cost 2k i believe. In Vic you have an annual fee on personalised plates don't ya?
