How Do I Install An Oil Presure Gauge

That or you could replace/tee into the factory one.

( i cant remember if the gauge pressure sensor is the same as the "your f**ked" pressure sensor that activates the oil light when your pretty much toast) :P Pay to find that out 1st.

And thread tape isnt ideal for oil components. Manufacturers of decent quality fittings and lines will tell you to stay the fudge away from tape!

Thread sealant should work just fine.

do yourself a favour and return the mechanical guage ( guage with oil capillary) and buy yourself a electric guage ( no oil capillary) which means no possibility of oil capillary failure causing oil in the car and destroying engine. then buy a fitting that screws into engine block where existing oil pressure switch is and fit bothe senders. wire up guage.

what do you mean "causing oil in the car and destroying engine"? that does not even make sense. Use what you want, but an electrical guage would be better due to the fact that if you do have mechanical guage and it does leak you will get oil inside your car.

I kinda lol'd too. The oil doesnt actually flow around, it just goes into the line and pressurizes as far as i can tell hahaha. And its such a puny ass line that it would have to be leaking for an effing long time for it to case any damage to the engine. You would also smell it rather quickly.

Id say that the half moons and rocker covers leak just as much haha.

the line is under pressure you tools, if it fails, which i have seen many of the plastic ones do, there is a good chance you could turn a bearing, especially if you dont notice. but im only a mechanic, what would i know.

Tools are what you use to fix stuff.

I realise they are under pressure im not completely retarded, or how else would it work? The oil pressure lines are TINY. And IF it sprung a leak, you would know very quickly because of the stench in the cabin. The line is so small that you would need to drive around for sooo long for it to drain a 5L sump.

I mean shit, a mate of mine in his V6 VR4 sun over a pice of 4x2 and smashed the corner of his sump off. Didnt even know. Drove a good 3km at full noise after that. Only noticed the leak in the morning because the gutter was full of oil.

You Aussies are so quick to snap! Its incredible.

Mind you you RB's are always having issues with the oil pump so I hear, Anyways I get where the bloke is coming from but as you say you would notice it in about 2 seconds unless your a tard, and I dont think the pressure drop would be that substanstial - and by my standards mechanics dont know everything your only human after all.

      Ha ha ha, mine loves to spend, all on the dogs (they're our kids, and her spending would likely rival that of some people raising children!) the only benefit is, her spending is tax deductible as she runs a business in the dog industry 😛 The above all means she can spend race car budget quicker than I can. 😛 That and a lot of the things I want are very expensive, and I can be a bit "you want how much for that?!" And at other times overly impulsive. Or I start the w days of research, get to day 1.5 and get really annoyed that no one will advertise actual specifics and it's just marketting BS and I go "well, now I don't want anything to do with that now!" Also I hate paying lots of money for something I can make from $50 in materials. Then I get the shits halfway through making things and wonder why others who just buy parts have more fun... 😛

      Their 240Z with the RB26 would be a real nice thing to have in a garage to come out for an occasional weekend cruise It's such a cool thing in so many ways Sadly, we have a blue 240Z shell that I walk past every day, just sitting outside a shed at work, it has been slowly disintegrating and falling apart into the ground for the last few years, the owner cannot be found, and I am unable to "claim it" I've been told by work and the RMS, the rust in the body is excessive though, and it has had most of the salvageable stuff, like panels, trim and switch gear stripped off it over the last year or two, work keeps threatening to put it in one of our metal scrap bins, I wish they did though, as it makes Mark sad walking past it

      Good tips, I like it! 😂😂 My wife is a LOT more frugal than me so it's only me we need to worry about! A splurge to her is buying 2 pairs of socks in one visit at Kmart!

      Yeah kids certainly add a whole another dimension to your life.  Life ceases to be about you and more about them for a while!  And I wouldn't have it any other way.  I love watching them play sport and make new friends along the way. Wow, sounds like your mate is a good guy to know!!!  He's got some serious toys in the toy box!  Yes it would be lovely to be able to do stuff to your car without getting all tied up in boring shit like how to pay for it!!  I would describe my spending style as "aggressively spontaneous and logical but regrettable purchasing"....  That will hopefully make no sense at all which would be appropriate given that is how I buy stuff.  I'll decide at the drop of a hat that I'm buying something expensive, research the living shit out of it for 2 days straight then go out and buy it.  Then I'll have instant buyers remorse for 2 days which generally passes by the time it turns up on the front step!  If I'm feeling ballsy sometimes I'll tell my wife.  Other times it just makes its way silently passed the house and out the back to the shed, never to be spoken of again...
