I just mentioned that at the time the R32 was around if you compare it to a car of its era(VP- VR- VS 5 litre SS') the GTR wipes the floor with them, however, the latest model SS is very close when compared to the R32, the AWD is what gives the GTR the bigest advantage as you can get it off the line alot easier than the VE SS. This post started out with a guy asking if his stock 32GTR would beat a VE SS. I just said it would be close, as the VE has come along way.

MBS206 is Duncans R32 stock or does it have a few mods? If its close to standard and beats the VE ss then the question is answered! Argument sorted.

there was never an Argument mate, all im doin is pointing out how good the r32 gtr is for the age it is, plus the price you can pick em up for these days.

I think stock for stock on a strip the VE would chase it down. the first 60ft the gtr would own. But with a small amount of money spent, which is still amile under what you would pay for the VE, the gtr would own it hands down.

look holden have brought out the W427( soz if misspelt) 7ltr v8 for $ 170,000 , Nissan 2009 GTR for like $ 160,000 and the GTR will not just wipe the floor with the holden but will quite possibly lap it in time around a track... and in a straight line don't even think about it . it QQ to the v8... so GTR is cheaper and a much better all round speed demon

so you're trying to say that a 1500+kg car with only 280hp at the flywheel should run faster than 14 flat at 104mph? (33 GTR)

what am i missing here?

punch 1530kgs and 280hp into a moroso speed calc and the MPH is spot on and it says 13.3sec ET...and thats not allowing for shift times, wheel spin and gearing so 14.0 sounds about right to me

Things Go a bit differently in real life compared to theory, Have a look at Super Drager's link

Good work i was to lazy to look for it:)

It depends on the driver too. Although drag is just going fast on a straight line but after my first time, I think there's quite a bit of skills involved. My time was shit for the power the car is making.

Here Here! My bike would beat all of them.... :P

I'm going to WSID to run my bike tomorrow night i've run an 11.3@122mph so far. Just got it jetted and tuned 120hp at the wheel not bad for a 15yo 900. If I can drop my 60 down to 1.7 from 1.9 hope to hit high 10s! Also going to try out a new secret weapon to help bring the times down.

If anyones going tomorrow night i'll be lined up with a Black and Maroon Honda Fireblade ,its very old, but come and say hello.

Cheers

Pfft!! My trail bike would beat your ancient 900! As for a GTR vs SS comparo your dreamin if you think a Holden would get even close! If your going to make a comparison of this sorts get a stock Typhoon and compare the 1/4 mile times with a GTR! Two of the best performance cars of their time against each other.

Oh and one other thing 2 strokes are the way of the future! Trust me!

If Fords were 2 stroke at least then they'd have a reason to blow smoke from the factory floor..... you are such a tool.

Dont forget the R34 has the tallest final drive out of all 3 GT-R's at 3.5.

It's actually 3.57; but it doesn't matter anyway, because the 6-speed Getrag has completely different ratios (4th isn't even direct) to the 5-speed in R32s and 33s, but the overall gearing is similar, with the R34 ratios being stacked closer from 2nd through 6th (compared to something like a Falcodore where the car is essentially a 5-speed with a ridiculously tall 6th gear thrown in to allow you to get some kind of economy out of your 17 litre engine)

You must spend a lot of time behind a ford to see the smoke. That 900 of yours must be slower than you say!! As for two strokes, they have a power stroke every 360 degree as apposed to a power stroke every 720 degrees, so they are twice as powerfull as a fourstroke with less moving parts!

To settle the argument here is a scan of a copy of unique cars magazine article on the r32-r34 Gtr specs and you'll find even the mighty boat the R33 GTR when driven properly will still trounce anything holden or ford can throw at them. Just For the record my favorite car is the mighty boat :)

You must be an engineer, you seem to know a lot of theory, but when it comes to real practical experience you know bugger all!

If what you say is true about two strokes that means that 2 engines of similar size one a 2- joke (i made a funny ha ha ha) the other a four- Stroke, the output of the 2 should be twice that of the 4. Sad thing is its not. So that means your ghey.

You must be a mechanic that fixes dents!

If the same development that has gone into 4 strokes had gone into two strokes we would definately be getting close to double the power. The reason that a 2 stroke will never get double the power of a 4 stroke is due to heat loss. The cylinder and piston don't have enough time to cool in between power strakes therefore they lose more power to heat. As i said if we had the devolopment that the big MoCo have put into their expensive 4 strokes with cams, valves, lifters, springs, timing chains we would have a lighter more powerfull and much much easier to maintain car/bike that would cost less.

Think about it why would a motor company sell you a two stroke that has less moving parts to break and is less expensive to fix when they can sell you a four stroke where they can get double the after sales money from the additional parts that WILL wear and in the case of bikes they wear quickly!

More power, less weight, less movong parts to wear/break, initial costs are less, rebuild costs are less.........hmm your right the way forward is a four stroke!! :D

Alright go and get your 2-stroke car and i'll race you....... what no 2-stroke car? I win. POw
