I think John (ISOLA) has given me some of his gremlins.....

Over the 18 months ive had my 34 a few random times when i start the car all the dash warning lights flick on and off as per normal but sometimes the TCS & SLIP lights i think, the ones at the top of the dash cluster have stayed on!

The car doesnt feel any different as such, and then if i turn the car off and start again they go away. Its like they just dont flick off sometimes.

Im wondering if anyone else has had this happen of if its nothing major to wory about or if its effecting the car only that its happened a few times now in a short time frame???

Thanks Donna :P

If you've got no ill effects it's most likely the TCS throttle motor, they can start to get a little sticky and play up, if it doesn't move the way it's supposed to on startup it registers as an error, with TCS and SLIP lights on.

Mmmmm interesting .....

If that is the case .....

1 How much do you reckon a throttle motor is?

2 Are they hard to get?

3 Are they hard to replace?

No idea on cost/availability. They do pop up a bit in the for sale section though. If you're not overly phased about the TCS system working 100% right, you can take out the butterfly plate (2 screws holding it) and that does tend to fix things as the drive doesn't get caught on the inside of the plenum anymore.

All your codes will appear normal, just if you do activate the TCS you get some loud popping out the exhaust due to the airflow not being cut off as before.

    • I didn't think about how a circle works before, dumb.  Before, I had .9mm restrictor bolts but I can't use these cause they were shorter aluminium bolts that just tear off their threads when tightening since the OEM lines are thicker than the shitty braided one that was installed previously. Now I use longer 1mm stainless steel restrictor bolts. I think the difference will not affect the health of the turbos, but I guess I'll have to drill out the main feed bolt as I agree multiple restrictions sound dodgy. The one that was installed with the braided line was just too short, but completely without a restrictive hole.
    • Tomei or Nitto, don't use the OEM one or Cosmetic ☺️
    • After cleaning up a rusty cooling system in a 33 gtst that's been sitting for years it seems to have cleaned out the head gasket too haha. It seems the Tomei metal gasket works without machining surfaces? Or put oem? Also should put an oil restrictor while the head is off? Thanks
    • Thanks, I definitely saw the more expensive options from Crank and driveshaft shop. Thank you for the D-max option.  Still hopeful someone has an OEM out of the box option I found that the 300zx NA Left drive shaft is a good match for the Right on the R33. https://www.gsplatinamerica.com/product/ncv53040 Just need to find Left CV for the R33, I cannot find any <=22" axles.
