I'm looking at getting a stock unmodified R34 GTR Vspec II and was hoping if any other R34 GTR owners out there could provide some insight into the costs involved in maintaining these monsters :P . If it depends on what use the car will get then it'll basically be for weekend cruises. Thanks in advance. :P

it completely depends on the car you buy but if you buy a tidy one thats been looked after there is no reason for general maintenance to cost you any more than it would any other car.

Agreed, also depends on whether you will do the services yourself or get a mechanic to do it. If you do it yourself and use good fluids, no reason it would cost more than any other car of similar age/requirements.

If you're in Sydney, I'll be going to the SnS at Fairfield Showground on Sunday if you'd like to have a squizz at the ...

R34 GT-R Owner's Manual in English (UK Version). It has the full servicing schedule of course.

Good to see a thread that starts off with opinion same as myself.

I dont understand why would people say gtr are very exp to maintain. Note the word maintain and not mod. But even if you do mod, just dont do anything stupid and i doubt a decent gtr will fail on you.

There's no special measures with maintaining a GTR, just need to use decent fluids, and coolant, no cheap stuff. Oil changed regularly (and overfilled where appropriate) etc. It's not until you start taking it to the track that preventative maintenance is more extreme.

Unfortunately i'm a melbournian. Would've loved to take a look at the schedule.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Great to hear other positive responses other than 'gonna cost you $20K a year to service and maintain' Simple stuff like general maintenance such as changing fluids, fillters i can do myself but major services i might have to find myself a reputable mechanic.
