$699 + installation sounds ok. Maybe just ask if he can do any better...

Big brand name intercoolers can cost $500 to $1000 alone...

Depending how thick the front mount intercooler is, usually a bit of extra space is required to fit a front mount intercooler.

An intercooler to fit under the original front bar with no modification... Upgrade to a R34 GTT side mount intercooler.

They are pretty much a bolt on straight fit and are slightly larger but you should still have enough room.

I just happen to have my front bar off at the moment so i went out and had a look.

I have a series 1 R33 and needed no cutting to fit the front mount. But i did have to trim a bit off

the stock bar to put that back on.(on the inside) so you could not tell .

You will need to cut a hole for the pipe..

first off...verrry nice car, midnight purple?? mine is to is... i will look into the price.. you know the funniest thing though!...like i said i am a car noob..I REALLY DONT KNOW WHAT A INTERCOOLER REALLY DOES..?.. this will make me sound stupid, but i just like the look of them...LOL..ps..a friend told me once before i got my r33..that if you ever did put a intercooler on a car an put the mesh infront of it you should put fly-wire behind mesh to keep it better protected..IS THAT TRUE?

Make sure you ask for a cooler with 'turn-back' piping so you can use the factory pipes, plus you wont have to cut anything structural to make it fit.

This is a turn back -

[/quthanx mate il def look into that...cheers..ps (DO ANY OF YOU GUYS RECCOMEND THE PWR BRAND)

from your sig, you have a series 2.

so they will need to cut part of the metal reo bar out (this is the support for the front bar).

then if you still have the standard front bar, they will need to cut away some of the plastic so the cooler fits.

no big deal, easy to do (have done it twice now).

as said, make sure you ask for a turn flow cooler. this means they wont have to cut through the engine bay. which the popo dont like you doing.

like this.

intercooler will do a couple of things for you, but basically it will keep the compressed air cooler and denser. making more bang wen it gets mixed

with the fuel in engine.

if you dont want/can it yourself.

buy one of these http://justjap.com/store/product.php?produ...=339&page=1

and get the guys to fit it for you.

Haha puddle of water almost looks like it was placed there to reflect the front bar :)

I don't want to give you crap because you admit to being a newbie with this sort of stuff, but why on earth do you want to put something on your car that you don't know the basics of what it does? It's not exactly a purely aesthetic item that you can just slap on without consequence. It will change the feel of the car and you may not like it (read: throttle response) unless you plan on extracting more power from your engine. Keep in mind also that even return flow intercoolers like the one above sometimes require cutting of the reo bar which is illegal...and may cost you a bit of money in the pits if you get pulled over by an officer who doesn't like it. Also that having an intercooler AND a pod filter at the same time is illegal. Not saying don't do it, or getting on a legal high horse, just pointing out that given you don't know what an intercooler does...I'm guessing you also didn't know this side of it.

Cheers.

Hehe!!

Thanks, actually it is Gun Metal Grey colour.

What ssxRicho said is what an intercooler does.

Keeps the air cool when going into the throttle body, inlet plenum.

Yes front mount intercoolers look tuff as but I would not put the mesh in front of it, but that's just me.

The mesh is just there to stop bug, whatever getting onto the intercooler or if you want to hide it and give a sleeper look.

I haven't heard much from PWR, I know they make intercoolers, but looks like their main target audience is for Holden and Ford.

I would stick to the Japanese brands but if a non Japanese brand works will for you then no harm in using it, whatever works well for you I guess.

nope..didny know any of that, cheers for the info and advice..one of the other guys posts said those ruturn flow ones means u dont nhave to cut through the reo bar... is that ok..not illegal..?..sumone else said also just go with a better replacement for the small one thats already in there..a gtt i think he called it... my car is pretty much stock an i just want to get it around 200 kilowatts ..its just hard coz i really dont know were to start.. cheers

thans mate..i be def asking about return flow..

Dont know where to start? I'd say work on the exhaust first, much power to be gained there. But if u are looking for 200kw max only, just get the r34 gtt side mount intercooler(along with the exhaust) ..will get you there. I hope u just dont wanna get a front mount interooler for the looks of it, as birds said, they do tend to make things illegal. To get around 200kw just get a good free flowing exhaust, cn get ur ecu re-mapped and turn up the boost to a safe level.. jus a few ideas,,an intercooler shouldnt be the first thing u look at,,

cheers man

    • All I can say Duncan is good luck and I hope that Neil did not run any E85 in Cheryl. I have recently experienced the full spectrum of fuel tank issues in my R33's that had been caused by E85 and contaminated fuel. When you take the cover off the top of the tank and have a look inside you will get an understanding of how easy it will be. Best case situation is clean fuel with minimal contamination. My GTR was like this and it was a very simple operation to just grab the fuel pump carrier bracket and slide it up and out of the tank. My three GTS_T's had different levels of fuel contamination that was probably caused by E85 in the fuel.  In the worst case all of the metal components in the tank had rusted to the point where there were pieces of rusted metal swirling around in the tank. This required the removal of the exhaust, the tailshaft, the complete rear cradle and the fuel tank. The components in the tank were that rusted that it took days to get the fuel pump carrier and the mounting brackets out of the tank. When the tank was finally cleaned, everything inside the tank had to be replaced. With the tank all back together I could then reinstall it in the car along with everything else that had to come out. Good luck and I hope that you find a clean tank.
    • It is a two door. It is black and also still has the OEM wheels and stereo. Exact model would be KR_R32RGFEL_SS According to GTR-Registry.com is a 2 Door Coupe; RB20DE; 2WD no HICAS; MT.F5; (11L) Projector Headlamps and Fog Lights; (12_) Electronic Active Full Auto Air Con (Climate Control); (13-14SS) V Selection -- Which seems to be accurate description of my variant. Will try to upload a few pictures soon. The OEM wheels look like the below image. Image is taken from the goo-net-exchange website.

    • Welcome Gabriel. At least your car has a glorious RB and not the shitty CA18. As MBS206 mentioned all the good bits can be added later. Two doors or four?
    • And half of them have been converted to turbos.
